Bobby Ketchie Obituary

Bobby Ray Ketchie, 64, of Gold Hill, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Nov. 2, 2018 at his home. He was born Sept. 7, 1954 in Rowan County to the late William Wesley Ketchie and Mary Frances Roseman Ketchie. He graduated from Wingate University with an Associates Degree in Business. Bobby was the owner and operator of Ketchie Marble Company and an entrepreneur for over 30 years. He was a lifetime member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church and he served as Fire Commissioner of Liberty Fire Department for several years. Bobby was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved to spend time outdoors with his family and dogs and granddogs. He enjoyed going new places and was always looking for the next adventure from the time he was a child. Entertaining and feeding his friends and family was something he loved to do, be it at home, at the coast, or on a hunting trip. Bobby never met a stranger, always enjoyed a good meal, and he always had a smile on his face no matter where he was. Sharing and helping others was a passion of his. He lived life to the fullest and loved his family dearly. Bobby is survived by his wife of 37 years, Jancy McKinney Ketchie; a son, Travis Ray Ketchie and girlfriend Taylor Trexler of Gold Hill; a daughter, Kadie Ketchie Julian and husband Baker of Gold Hill; three brothers, Rev. William “Bill” Ketchie and wife Kathy of Salisbury, Larry Ketchie and wife Barbara of Gold Hill and Ronnie Ketchie and wife Bonnie of Gold Hill; mother and father-in-law, P.H. and LaVerne McKinney of Granite Quarry; and two brothers-in-law, Chris McKinney of Granite Quarry and Barry McKinney and wife Annette of Granite Quarry. Visitation: The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018 from 5:30-7:30 p.m at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in the Family Life Center, 9275 Bringle Ferry Rd., Salisbury, NC 28146. Service: The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018 at 2 p.m. at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, with Rev. Gary Coble officiating. The family will also receive friends from 1-1:45 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018 prior to the service. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Matthews Lutheran Church Building Improvement Fund. Powles Staton Funeral Home is assisting the Ketchie family. Bobby ( and family) made it possible for our daughter ( Jaimie) to get her first 8 point deer, numerous ducks , a swan and very close to a black bear at his Bear Cabin. Such a great sharing individual that will never be forgotten. Thank you for your humble kindness that kept a lot of kids our of trouble by offering them an amazing alternative ...hunting... I know you have already been received into your eternal home you so greatly deserve. The Mullens love you and will miss you dearly til hopefully we are blessed to join you.
