Buddy Templeton Obituary

Buddy Ray Templeton, 83, of Kannapolis passed away on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017. He was born Nov. 21, 1934 in Cabarrus County, a son of the late Carl and Georgie Cline Templeton. Buddy served in the United States Army from 1954-56 during the Korean War. He then worked at Cannon Mills until he joined the Kannapolis Police Department in 1958. He rose through the ranks of the Kannapolis Police Departmet until retiring as a Major in 1991. Buddy was a member of First Baptist Church. He enjoyed working out in his yard and gardening. Buddy is survived by his wife, Carroll McDowell Templeton; son, Tim Templeton (Kelly) of Concord; grandchildren, Griffin Templeton of Harrisburg and Hannah Templeton Cook (Bryan) of Concord; and his sister, Pat Harrell (Monty) of Kannapolis. Service & Visitation: A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel, officiated Dr. Tom Cabannis. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park with police honors. The family will receive friends prior from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. at Whitley's. Memorials: Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 101 N. Main Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081. Whitley's Funeral Home is assisting the Templeton family.
