Carl Wood Obituary

Mr. Carl Wood, Jr. 72, passed away Monday December 9, 2019 at the W.G. Hefner V.A. Medical Center he was born July 15, 1947 in Rowan Co. he was the son of the late Carl Wood, Sr. and Lessie Johnson Wood of Salisbury. He was educated in the public schools of Rowan Co.and was a graduate of Dunbar High School, East Spencer and was a veteran of the United States Marines. He retired from the NC Department of Corrections where he served as a SGT. He was member of New Hope AME Zion Church. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary B. Wood and a sister Paulette Wood. He leaves precious and loving memories to his son, Daynon T. Wood(Viola), Salisbury, stepsons; Daryl A. Belton, Dadrian Belton both of Charlotte, sisters, Rita Wood; Salisbury, Lynda Thompson; Atlanta, Lisa Tranumn; Salisbury, brothers, Gary Wood(Priscilla), Salisbury, Darryl Wood(Jackie), Atlanta, two grandchildren, Courtney Phillips and Miesha Glenn and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. Arrangements: Services will be held on Friday December 13, 2019 at New Hope AME Zion Church, East Spencer Visitation at 12 pm and Funeral at 12:30 pm burial and military rites will take place 10 am Monday December 16, 2019 at the Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd. Reverend Dr. Debra L. The Wood family, I knew him as Sgt. Wood from D.O.C. He was the best of men everyday we worked. His honestly and kindness will always be with me. He was a great mentor, teacher and friend. I will miss him dearly as he takes his final walk and place on heavenly grounds. My condolences goes out to you all in your time of need.
