Charles E. Wood Sr.

SALISBURY - Charles Edward Wood Sr., age 62, of 210 Sunset Drive, Apt. 517, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2006, at Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro, after one year of declining health.

Mr. Wood was born Jan. 18, 1944, in Davie county to Virginia Witt Wood of Salisbury and the late Charlie Wood. He was educated in the public schools of Philadelphia, Pa., and last worked for West Pharmaceuticals as a Plant Supervisor of Molding. He was a member of St. Johns Freewill Baptist church in Kinston.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by son Anthony Wood on June 10, 1983.

He is survived by sons Charles Wood Jr (Charlene) of Salisbury, Raymond Wood of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Scott Wood (Camellia) of Greensboro; daughters Roselind Wood of Greensboro and Lisa Smith of Greenville, N.C.; sister Joyce Allen of Salisbury; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Service: The funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Erwin Temple CME Church in Woodleaf with Elder Robert L. Witt as eulogist. Burial will be in Erwin Temple CME Church Cemetery.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 7-8 tonight in the Chapel. The family is also receiving friends at 6550 Meadow Lane, Salisbury.
