Dan Schindelholz, 67, of Salisbury, NC (formerly Medina, OH) passed away in the early morning of December 22 with his dear wife by his side. Dan was born on December 20, 1955, in Medina to John and Caroline Schindelholz (nee Rickard). Dan graduated from Medina High School in 1974. Dan loved all things outdoors and it influenced all aspects of his life. He enjoyed boating and camping with friends and family, rafting down the Rocky River with his boys and enjoying his daily walks through the woods with his beloved dogs. Professionally, this passion was the catalyst for Dan and his close friend to start their own business, Personal Touch Lawncare. He loved getting to know and working with so many members of the community over the years through Personal Touch. Years later Dan sold his business and moved south to North Carolina. This is where he met his loving wife, Denise (nee Weber), also from Medina, OH. In 1999 they embarked on a new adventure and bought a local favorite restaurant in Salisbury, NC called The Farmhouse. Dan has always been passionate about cooking. The restaurant was a true labor of love, serving hundreds of people on any given day and became a pillar of family for their friends, staff, and customers alike. Dan worked with the staff in the back, and Denise took care of the customers and staff up front, they were quite the team. In 2014 Dan and Denise decided to sell the restaurant to spend more time with family. Although living in North Carolina Dan never missed an opportunity to see his boys, Mark and David, play football, making the drive back to Ohio for years every Friday during the season. He was a “bonus” dad to Jenn, watching her grow from a little girl to a teacher, wife, and mom. Dan was also a dedicated and loving “Pawpaw” to five grandchildren and he loved nothing more than playing or taking the kids on a golfcart ride. In life, Dan enjoyed making fun memories, being the jokester and never missed a chance to watch the ones he loved grow, learn, play, celebrate holidays together and embrace the adventures of life. Dan is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Denise; children Mark (and family) Schindelholz, David (Kelly) Schindelholz, Jenn (Zach) Weir; grandchildren Emily, Ella, Evelyn, and Owen; Parents John and Caroline Schindelholz; sisters Sally Hawke, Jan (Al) Skrinska, Annie (Pat) McGuire; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Dan is preceded in death by his granddaughter Hannah Lucille. A private memorial service will be held later in the Spring. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Faithful Friends Animal Sanctuary. Powles Staton Funeral Home is assisting the Schindelholz family. Online condolences may be made at
