Deanna Locklear Obituary

Deanna O. Locklear

SALISBURY - Deanna Ree Oxendine Locklear, 67, of Salisbury, passed away Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at her residence. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Born Jan. 18, 1942, in Robeson County, she was the daughter of the late Aleine Oxendine and Buck Porter. Educated in Robeson County Schools, she was employed by Kmart for 13 years.

Mrs. Locklear was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church, where her husband, Johnny, is the pastor.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Ann Oxendine.

Survivors include her husband, Pastor Johnny Locklear, whom she married Nov. 12, 1961; sons Dwayne Locklear and wife Jodi and Gregory Lee Locklear and wife Anna; daughter Angelina Locklear and fiance Mark Sturgis; step-daughters Brenda Gayle Locklear and fiance Rick Evans and Judy L. Hunt and husband Ted; grandchildren Jennifer, Brittany and John-Wayne; and one great-grandchild, Malaysia Dillard, all of Salisbury.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9 at Lyerly Funeral Home.

Graveside Service: 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10 at Brookhill Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Bob Sutherland and the Rev. Leonard Allen will officiate.

Memorials: Rowan Relay For Life, c/o Frances Morris, 1103 Burkesway Drive, Salisbury, NC 28146.
