Donald "Don" Keller Sr.

Donald “Don” Wayne Keller, Sr. 64 of Kings Mountain, went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Don was born Aug. 16, 1951, in Iredell County. A 1969 graduate of East Rowan High School, he was a graduate of Fruitland Bible College, earned his Bachelor's Degree from Piedmont International University and attended Gardner Webb University and Limestone College. Don's pastorate career led him all over the East Coast. He was the Associate Pastor of Central Baptist Church in Gaffney, S.C.; Pastor of Jefferson Baptist Church in Jefferson, N.Y.; Pastor of Crescent Baptist Church in Rockwell; Pastor of Jubilee Baptist Church in Max Meadows, Va.; and Associate Pastor of Education at Central Baptist Church in Kannapolis. He was also active in Prison Evangelism with Rock of Ages. Don was currently a member of First Baptist Church of Kings Mountain, he served as Deacon and taught Sunday School teachers. He was active in missions and also volunteered with recruiting at Fruitland Bible College. Don was a Realtor and Broker for Allen Tate Realty in Kings Mountain and was on the Zoning Board in Kings Mountain. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Don is survived by his wife of more than 43 years, Nancy Kesler Keller, who he married April 14, 1972; son Donald Wayne Keller Jr. and wife Bethany of Kings Mountain; daughter Cassandra Keller Smith and husband Stacy of Albemarle; mother Ila Mae Smith; sister Belinda Lepley; and grandchildren Nathan Keller, Haley, Jacob and Colby Wilkins and Deleah Smith. Visitation: The family will receive friends on Thursday, Aug. 27 from 6–8 p.m. at Powles Staton Funeral Home in Rockwell; and from 10–11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28 at First Baptist Church Kings Mountain. Service: The funeral will be held on Friday, Aug. 28 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Kings Mountain conducted by Rev. Chip Sloan, Pastor. Burial will follow at Mountain Rest Cemetery in Kings Mountain. Memorials: Donations in memory of Don may be made to Fruitland Bible College, 1455 Gilliam Road, Hendersonville, NC 28792.
