Dorothy Sloop Obituary

Dorothy Ruth Cauble Sloop

SALISBURY - Dorothy Ruth Cauble Sloop, 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Born Dec. 7, 1927, in Rowan County, she was a daughter of the late John Calvin Cauble and Maggie Earnhardt Cauble. Educated in Rowan County schools, she retired from Cannon Mills Swink Plant.

She married the love of her life, Eustace Lee Sloop, on Dec. 23, 1948. They would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary this year.

A longtime faithful and devoted member of Grace Lutheran Church, Mrs. Sloop was an active member of the Adult Senior Sunday School Class, Amazing Grace Senior Citizens and Barbara Deal WELCA.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sloop was preceded in death by her son, Rev. Jerry Lee Sloop; her brother, Ray C. Cauble; and her sisters, Beulah C. Rufty, Esther C. Seaford, Margie C. Abernathy, Pearl C. Reavis, Mildred C. Rufty, Myrtle C. Ketchie and Hazel C. Hill.

Family members left to cherish her memory include her husband, Eustace; her sons, Timothy W. Sloop of the home and Rev. Ricky L. Sloop and wife Sharon of Crouse; her daughter, Debbie Parris and husband Earl of Salisbury; her daughter-in-law, Maribeth S. Baker and husband Charlie of Salisbury; her sister, Ailene C. McCombs of Faith; her four grandchildren, Donnie L. Sloop and wife Donna, Daniel H. Sloop and wife Angie, Jeremy L. Parris and fiancee Molly Stafford and Matthew S. Parris; four great-grandchildren, Daniel H. Sloop, II, Nicholas A. Sloop, Samantha N. Sloop and Lauren W. Wilkinson and husband Daniel; and two great-great-grandchildren, Hailee M. Reynolds and Madison K. Wilkinson.

Visitation and Service: The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 9 from 2:30-4 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church with the funeral service at 4 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Jerome M. Cloninger, pastor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, Family Life Center, 3020 Grace Church Road, Salisbury, NC 28147.

A special thank you to the nieces who were most helpful during Mrs. Sloop's hospital stay: Christy Yoe, Sharon Deal and Peggy Artz.
