Etta McEachern Porter

CONCORD - Etta "Lib" Elizabeth McEachern Porter, 81, of First Assembly Living Center, formerly of Rocky River Road, went home to be with the Lord Thursday Feb. 22, 2007 at NorthEast Medical Center with her family by her side.

Mrs. Porter was born July 19, 1925 in Cabarrus County, a daughter of the late Jacob A. and Lola Barbee McEachern. She was a graduate of Harrisburg High School and retired from Cannon Mills. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She served as commander of Chapter 27, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. She volunteered at the V.A. Hospital and was a member of the War Mothers, but her greatest passion was worshipping her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Cecil Porter; sister Ruby M. Lowery and a brother Dewey T. McEachern.

Survivors include sons Cecil Wayne Porter and wife Nancy, Ronney Darrel Porter and wife Gail and Jeffrey Alan Porter; grandchildren, Cecil Wayne Porter, Jr., Brian Patrick Porter, Ronney Darrel Porter, Jr., Amy Scott and husband Lee, Mark Porter and wife Melanie and Tadd Allred and wife Lori, Robert Persuitte and Jeffrey Shane Porter; a number of great grandchildren; sisters, Letha M. Gilland and Shirley M. Dover of Salisbury and brother Ted Archie McEachern of Lexington.

Funeral Services: Will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Edward Pigg officiating. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at West Concord Cemetery.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Wilkinson Funeral Home and will be at the home of her son Ron Porter, 742 Ruebens Road, the remaining time.

Memorials: Bethlehem Baptist Church 42 Liske Avenue NW, Concord, NC 28027.
