Joseph Daniel Obituary

'Edd ' Daniel DENTON - Joseph Edward "Edd" Daniel, 90, of Denton Road, died Tuesday (Sept. 13, 2005) at his residence. Born Oct. 26, 1914, in Davidson County, Mr. Daniel was a son of the late Clayton and Nina Snider Daniel. A self-employed sawmill owner and operator, he was also a farmer and attended Summerville Baptist Church. Edd was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was 16 years old when his father died, and he worked hard to provide for his extended family. He loved the sawmill, his farm and his cows. Mr. Daniel and his wife, Sara Belle Peacock Daniel, were inseparable until her death April 9, 2003. He was surrounded by the love of his children, grandchildren and family until he died peacefully in the home he loved. He will be missed so very much. Survivors include sons Larry E. Daniel and wife Kaye of Richfield and Loren Brent Daniel and wife Donna of Brown Summit; daughters Kaye Daniel Wells and husband David of Irmo, S.C., and Gayle D. Smerznak and husband John of Denton; brothers Bill Daniel and Burt Daniel, both of Denton; sisters Nona Carrick, Dallas Snider and Nina and husband Dean Yates, all of Denton; grandchildren Sarah Katheryn Wells and husband Joey, Creslyn Smerznak Hilton and husband Eric, Amy Wells DesChamps and husband John, John R. Smerznak Jr. and wife Carla Ruth, and David James Wells III and wife Joy; and 15 great-grandchildren. Service : 11 a.m. Saturday, Summerville Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom McLean and the Rev. Flynn Richardson officiating. Burial, church cemetery. Visitation : 6-8 tonight at Briggs Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home. Memorials : Summerville Baptist Church, 3134 Summerville Church Road, Denton, NC 27239.
