Dr. Juan Ricardo Eusebio Briceno Pinto went to be with the Lord on April 1st, 2025.
Born on October 29th, 1930, in Cusco, Peru, to Ruben Briceno and Augusta Briceno Pinto, he pursued his dreams with the steadfast support of his devoted wife, Alinda Briceno Calle, graduating from the Universidad Nacional de Cordoba.
As a dentist, oral surgeon, and orthodontist, Dr. Briceno dedicated his life to serving others; his heart always remained open, often providing care free of charge, embodying the true spirit of service and kindness. He worked as a dentist in the mines until the mines closed. Later, he opened his practice. His passion extended beyond his practice; he found joy in singing, playing tennis, swimming, serving his community, and creating cherished memories with family and friends. While in Boston, he selflessly volunteered at Boston Hospital and participated in the Jamaica Spanish Immersion program.
He also helped Harvard students connect deeply with the language and culture he cherished. He enjoyed helping the students learn about the new advances in dentistry. Many times, he traveled through multiple buses and trains to arrive to volunteer at his older age.
While he spent much of his later life in Waltham, MA, he found comfort in moving to Salisbury, North Carolina, where his loving daughter Ana Briceno and her husband Alfredo Soto provided care and support this last year. Dr. Briceno lived an inspiring 94 years, a testament to the love and gratitude he cultivated throughout his life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ruben Briceno, and his son-in-law, Robert S. Renfro.
He is survived by his unwavering wife, Alinda Briceno, who faithfully stood by him, bringing him light and joy. He was immensely proud of his children--Juan Briceno (Jhone), Mirtha Renfro (Robert), Arturo Briceno, and Ana Briceno (Alfredo)--who were the apple of his eyes. His grandchildren, Helen Briceno (Rafael), Mary Renfro, Michelle Puopolo (Evan), Stefano, Tiffany, Brittany, and Gerardo, brought him endless joy. He deeply cherished his time with his great-grandson, Logan, and eagerly anticipated welcoming another great-grandchild into the world. His surviving siblings are Leonor Briceno, Yoni Briceno, and Julio Briceno.
When asked how he would like to be remembered, Dr. Briceno said, "As a great dentist, great husband, and great father." When asked about his favorite memory, he said, "There are many. It's hard to pick one." Friends and family will remember his smile, kindness, charisma, amazing singing voice, and love for giving to the community.
