1959 - 2023

Dr. Kenneth Muhammad-El, 64, passed on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Novant Health Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte, NC. Born May 19, 1959 in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Howard Edwin Foxx, Sr. and Essie Kiser Foxx. Educated in the public schools of Rowan County, he was a graduate of North Rowan High School, Class of 1977. He completed his undergraduate studies at North Carolina Central University earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreation in 1982. Dr. Muhammed-El received a Certificate of Construction Management from Southeastern University, Tallahassee, FL, Masters Degree in Business from the University of Phoenix, Charlotte, NC, and his Doctorate Degree in Public Policy and Administration from Walden University, Minneapolis, MN. He was an Entrepreneur. Dr. Kenneth Muhammed-El was truly a servant leader in the community. Sharing his skills and expertise throughout Rowan County and abroad. He was the chairman/founder of the Paul L. Dunbar Group, Inc., founded the Institute of Social Impact, the Boys to Men Training Academy, Anti-Drug Drill Team, founded and served on the Board of Directors of Essie Mae Kiser Foxx Charter School and Essie Academy, served on the Board of Directors for the Rowan County Housing Authority, advisor to the Tsunami Literacy Program, and the Game for Life Prison Services. Dr. Muhammad-El shared his experience working with the Universal Peace Federation of North Carolina, was the Key Note Speaker for the World Peace Federation in Seoul, Republic of South Korea and was the Senior Security Trainer for Skeikh's Secret Service, United Arab Emirates. He truly worked for the people and the Town of East Spencer. He served as Mayor of East Spencer, Alderman, and worked on the East Spencer Planning Committee. A member of the Nation of Islam, Mosque #92, Greensboro, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Doris Foxx and Sharron Foxx; nephews, Alderman Tony J. Hillian and Mackenzie Jemel McMillon. Those left to forever cherish his memories are his children, Greg T. Headen, Jr., Keisha S. Fox (Henry), and KaSonja N. Fox; grandchildren, Kamahri Feamster, King Feamster, Heaven Headen, Angel Headen, and Kenry Wilder; brothers, James Dingus (Gloria), Howard Foxx, Jr., Darrell Foxx (Sera), Mark Foxx, Derrick Foxx (Sabrena), Kevin McCullough (Delphine) and Brian Worthy (Tonya); sisters, Deloris Foxx, Jacqueline F. Hillian (Sam, Jr.),Vickie Foxx, Valerie Foxx and Tina Foxx-Wallace (Alan); nieces, Lasheka Walker (Curtis), Kyuanna Foxx and Tasha Turner; nephews, Samuel John Hillian, III, Sedrick Hillian, Brandon Foxx, Malcom McMillon, Ronald Foxx, Isaiah Foxx, Howard and Edwin Foxx, Rodney Corpening, and Tory Turner; special friend, Annita (Joy) Samuel; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Arrangements: There will be no Public Viewing. Services will be Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Livingstone College Varick Auditorium with Al-Jan`azah Muslim Ceremony at 1pm and Funeral at 2pm.
