Lloyd Overcash Obituary

Cardine Overcash

CONCORD - Lloyd Cardine Overcash, 82, of Oak Pond Place N.W., died Saturday, May 26, 2007, at NorthEast Medical Center.

Mr. Overcash was born Feb. 7, 1925, in Rowan County, a son of the late Espy Overcash and Mary Lucille Barnhardt Overcash. He served in the Philippines with the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from Aaron Chevrolet in Salisbury, where he worked for many years as an accountant.

A member of the First Presbyterian Church in Kannapolis, he was also a member of the American Legion and was a Mason.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Frieze Overcash.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Parker Overcash; daughters Elizabeth "Beth" Overcash McLester and husband Jerry of Concord, Chris Bayne and husband Mike of Kannapolis; son Eric Overcash and wife Diane of Lake Norman; stepsons Kevin Barker and wife Dianne of Concord and Eric Barker and wife Tammy of Eden; 11 grandchildren, Erica Phillips, Alan Overcash, Melissa Stutts, Kori Dyer, Jonathan McLester, Andrew McLester, Kristin Losh, Patrick Barker, Andrew Barker, Thomas Barker and Tisha Baker, four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Hoyt Overcash of Concord.

Service: Funeral services for Mr. Overcash will be conducted at First Presbyterian Church, Kannapolis, at 3 p.m. Monday. Dr. Joseph R. Crawford will officiate. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at Lady's Funeral Home.

Memorials: Memorials for Mr. Overcash may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 201 Vance St., Kannapolis, NC 28081; or Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, 600 College St., Oxford, NC 27565.

Lady's Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Overcash was part of my childhood. I always thought he was so handsome and always had a smile for the children. Eric, Beth and Chrissy, I know that you will miss him greatly. He touched many lives.
He will be remembered fondly. May God hold each of you in the palm of His hand.

For Betty, Beth & Jerry, Hoyt & Joyce: I am so sorry for your loss. I remember that Don and I had some fun times at dinners and parties with Betty & Cardine, Hoyt & Joyce and Lex & Helen Basinger. Cardine was a good man and fun to be with. Please take care of yourselves and each other. May God bless all of you, individually and collectively.
