Lois Van Blarcum

SALISBURY - Lois M. (Fournier) Van Blarcum, 86, of Salisbury for 31 years, passed away Sept. 11, 2014, after a brief decline of health with loving family and friends at her side.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, March 29, 1928, Lois was a graduate of Andrews School for Girls in Willoughby, Ohio, and Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio.

She resided in Northampton Township, Ohio, raising her family and teaching English at Boston Junior High School. Lois then moved to Salisbury and worked in retail, daycare centers, while managing a busy independent social life through volunteerism at Rowan Medical Center and the Humane Society. She crafted countless gifts of embroidery, loved to feed the birds, plant flowers and could make a friend in every situation.

She is survived by children Ron (Dianne) Van Blarcum of Hendersonville, Lucinda (Butch Alden) of Rockwell, Curt (Barbara) Van Blarcum of Hudson, Ohio, and Mark Van Blarcum of Wadsworth, Ohio.

She loved her grandchildren, Eon, Cayenne, Lauren, Bradley and Miles; and four great-grandchildren.

She will be missed by her family, her devoted neighbors Linda, Ronnie and Junior; her students; and fellow volunteers.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Brent Siefert, Internist, and the caring nurses and staff at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury.

Praying for your family. I always enjoyed seeing Ms. Lois when she would bring her dog Suzie to the animal hospital to get groomed. She always had a smile on her face.
