Melissa Robbins Obituary

Melissa Mills Robbins, 55, of Salisbury, NC, passed away unexpectedly on January 21, 2025, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center. All who knew Melissa remember her love, kindness, and determination to help.

A memorial service to celebrate Melissa's life will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at The Arbor Church, 5545 Woodleaf Road, Salisbury, NC. Friends, family, and those that knew and loved Melissa are invited for visitation which will begin at 3:00 PM in the Church Fellowship Hall with the Celebration of Life held at 4:00 PM in the Church Sanctuary.

Melissa was born on October 16, 1969, in Rowan County, where she grew up with a deep sense of community and service. After graduating from West Rowan High School in 1987, she went on to pursue an Accounting degree at Catawba College, earning her degree in 1991. Her commitment to education didn't stop there, as she later obtained a Master's in Business Administration from Pfeiffer University.

Melissa's career in the non-profit sector began with the Salvation Army. It was during this time that she discovered her passion for community outreach and helping others. Over the course of more than 25 years, Melissa dedicated her talents to the United Way, where she most recently served as Finance and Operations Director. Throughout her tenure, she made a significant impact in Salisbury and the surrounding communities.

Beyond her professional achievements, Melissa volunteered her time by serving as Board Treasurer for the Pops at the Post. Melissa and her husband, Gregg, have been actively involved with the Woodleaf Civitan's Club. Together, they have worked to strengthen and uplift the local community, demonstrating their shared commitment to making a positive difference.

Her caring and selfless acts of giving and kindness will leave a void within the community she loved and called home. As a woman of unwavering faith, she has been a steadfast pillar in her church community. Her church is profoundly thankful for the countless hours she dedicated to various events. Her contributions have left a lasting impact, and her commitment continues to inspire others to serve with the same devotion and heart.

Melissa was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Mills, her maternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. John Henry Kurfees, and her father-in-law, Mr. Joe Robbins.

She is survived by her loving husband of 27 years Gregg Robbins; her sons, Mark (Meghan) Robbins and John Robbins; stepdaughter, Tiffany (Robert) Glockner; parents, Forest and Janie Mills; sister, Shayla (Dominic) LeDoux; nephews, Dominic “Nick” LeDoux, Isaac LeDoux, Evan LeDoux, Geoffrey (Eva) Bogner; nieces, Breanne (Jake Pichard) Bogner, Katie Robbins, Nina Markanda; and mother-in-law, Janice Robbins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Shriners, the United Way, or The Arbor Church.
