Minnie McCachren Obituary

Minnie Lodina Alexander McCachren, 91, of Salisbury, passed away Fri., Jan. 5, 2024 at her residence.

Minnie was born September 10, 1932 in Cabarrus County, North Carolina to the late Samuel Grier Alexander and Minnie Culp Alexander. She worked for many years as a nurse and director of Student Health Services at Catawba College.

Minnie was a member and ordained elder at John Calvin Presbyterian Church.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Hoyt McKee McCachren, Jr. and their four children, Renee McCachren (William Christie) of Salisbury; Jon McCachren of Cleveland, NC; Amy McCachren of Salisbury; and Scot McCachren (Linda) of Mendham, NJ. Also surviving are their five grandchildren, Kristen Raymer (Justin) of Alexandria, Va; Cari McCachren-Shah (Amol Shah) of Kensington, Md.; Mary Hintz (Mitchell) of Willow Spring, NC; Emily McCachren (Peter Billings) of McConnellsburg, PA; and Julia McCachren of Mendham, NJ; and five great grandchildren, Fiona and Whitaker Raymer, Lahna and Nohlan Shah, and Rosemary Billings.

A burial service will take place at Rocky River Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Concord, NC, on Tuesday, January 9, at 2:00 pm. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 10, at 2:00 pm, at John Calvin Presbyterian Church, 1620 Brenner Ave., in Salisbury. It will be officiated by Rev. Lisa Mullen. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent in Minnie's memory to the Hoyt and Minnie McCachren Endowed Scholarship at Catawba College or to John Calvin Presbyterian Church.
