Otha 'Snoot' Sherrill

SALISBURY - The Board of Directors, Management and Staff of Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home, Inc. are saddened to announce the passing of fellow co-worker and friend Mr. Otha "Snoot" Sherrill on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at the Lutheran Nursing Home.

He was born Nov. 14, 1932, to the late Will Ferrens and Octavia Sherrill in Rowan County. Educated in Rowan County schools, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Retired from Owens Illinois Box Company, he had worked in various capacities with Mr. Leo Wallace and served for 20 years at Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home, Inc.

A member of Hall's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, he served on the Trustee Board and formerly as a member of the Usher Board.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Jones Sherrill, on Oct. 24, 2001.

Survivors include daughters Geraldine Moore of Cary and Wanda Oglesby (Leon) of Winston-Salem; grandchildren Aja Moore of Cary, Joel Oglesby and Candace Oglesby both of Winston-Salem; god-children Barbara Moore, Leytanyer Reddick, Hilda Bost and Lawrence Woods; uncle Pete Sherrill; and aunt Beulah Mae Sherrill.

Visitation and Service: Saturday, 2:30 p.m., Hall's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church with funeral following at 3 p.m. Elder Richard Johnson, Pastor, will officiate. Burial, Monday, 12 Noon, U.S. National Cemetery, Statesville Boulevard location, with Military Rites. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home at 430 E. Horah St..

Services are entrusted to Noble & Kelsey Funeral Home, Inc., Salisbury, assisted by Kelsey Funeral Home, Inc., Concord, and Kelsey Funeral Home, Albemarle, Inc.
