Ralph Montgomery Obituary
WAYNE, Ohio - Ralph E. Montgomery, age 84, died on Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, in Orwell, Ohio.
He was born on June 14, 1929, in Misenheimer, N.C., a son of Mittie (Cruse) and Sam Jones Montgomery. Formerly of Ashtabula, Ohio, Ralph was a Wayne resident for the past 20 years.
He was an inspector and industrial X-ray technician for Pittsburgh DesMoines Steel Company of Pittsburgh and previously worked for Cannon Mills of North Carolina.
On June 23, 1984, he married Ruth Ann (Hawkins) Belz. Ralph was a member of the Maton's Grove Methodist Church in North Carolina and attended Wayne First Congregational Church. He was also a member of the Boiler Makers Union in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Ralph enjoyed restoring antique cars, going hunting and was a fan of NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt Sr.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; two stepsons, Gary Belz and Dane Cook; three brothers, James, Sam and Robert Montgomery; and four sisters, Doris Morgan, Mary "Chic" Varnadore, Ruth Jenkins and Mildred Stewart.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Ruth Ann Montgomery of Wayne, Ohio; two daughters, Vicki (Lonnie) Reavis of Salisbury, N.C., and Melynda Montgomery of Glorieta, N.M.; a son, Mason Montgomery of Ashtabula, Ohio; four stepsons, Bryan Cook of Ashtabula, Ohio, David (Barbara) Belz of Olympia, Wash., William (Christina) Belz of Conneaut, Ohio, and Michael (Tracy) Belz of Daytona Beach, Fla.; a sister, Gean Holsapple of Blairsville, Ga.; five grandchildren, Regina, Cody, AJ, Bob and Alex; and two great-grandchildren, Makayla and Grant.
Service and Visitation: A funeral service will be held Friday, Nov. 15 at 1 p.m. at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect St., Andover, Ohio, with Pastors Bob and Lori Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in Hayes Cemetery in Wayne, Ohio. Calling hours will be Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
