Rebecca Barber Gerou

Rebecca Duke Barber Gerou, age 63, passed away on Thursday July 10, 2025, in Sevierville, TN. She was born July 6,1962, in Salisbury, North Carolina and was the youngest daughter of the late Clarence Gilmer and Alma Lucille Waddle Barber. Rebecca was a graduate of West Rowan High School. She worked at Meridian Nursing Center through the Rowan County Vocational Workshop prior to moving to Tennessee, where she worked at Dollywood and retired from Wilderness in the Smokies. Rebecca loved her family and her fur babies, and she was a huge Atlanta Braves fan.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Alma Barber, and her brothers-in-law, Mike Gerou, Tracy Gerou and Dana Lippard.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years Scott Gerou; her brothers, David (Nancy) Barber of Atlanta, GA, Bill (Becky) Barber of Lexington, SC, and sister, Susan Lippard of Salisbury, NC; stepsons, Matthew Gerou of Springfield, MO, and Aaron Gerou of Tulsa, OK; brothers-in-law, Larry (Rusty) Gerou of China Grove, NC, David Gerou of Tulsa, OK, and Jeff Gerou of Michigan; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-6 PM on Sunday July 20, 2025, at the First United Methodist Church at 214 Cedar Street, Sevierville, TN with a memorial service to follow at 6 PM. Family and friends will meet at 3 PM on Monday July 21, 2025, at the Christ Episcopal Church Cemetery at 3430 Old US Hwy 70, Cleveland, NC for a graveside service and inurnment.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
