Richard Null Obituary

Richard Wayne Null, 83, of Spencer, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2026.

He was born October 28, 1942, in Rockwell, NC, and was one of twelve children born to John Ranson Null and Carrie Holshouser Null. Richard grew up in the Millbridge community, attended West Rowan High School until his senior year. In 1962 he graduated from Loudon High School in Loudon, TN. He enlisted in the United States Air Force on July 20, 1962 and was honorably discharged on July 19, 1966. Richard was employed with IBM as a service representative prior to his retirement. He loved to travel and visited 48 states, but spent most of his adult life in Texas. He was an avid reader and was also an American history buff.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his six brothers and two sisters, Geneva Ruth, James William, Lola Mae, John Junior, Charles Eugene, Franklin Leroy, Howard Ray, and Samuel Austin.

He is survived by his sisters, Mary Deal and Margaret Morgan; his brother, Thomas Allen Null; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will greet friends and relatives from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM on Thursday, February 19, at Powles Staton Funeral Home in Rockwell.

A service with Military Rites will follow at 1:30 PM on Thursday, at the Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Boulevard, Salisbury, NC 28144.
