Rosa Blackwell Obituary
Born January 9, 1948 in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Willie Barber and Ethel Mae Barber.
Educated in the public schools of Rowan County, she was a graduate of R. A Clement High School. She was last employed with Cosa (Fiber) as a beamer.
Mrs. Blackwell was a member of North English Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, Salisbury.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Lindsay Blackwell, Sr.; son, John Lindsay Blackwell, Jr.; and sister, Janette Rustin.
Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Franklin L. Gillespie, Jr. of Woodleaf and Kimberly Bishop (Malcolm) of Raleigh; brothers, Tommy Barber (Tina) of Salisbury and Willie Barber, Jr. (Laverne) of Woodleaf; sister, Retta Barber of Woodleaf; grandchildren, Rez Gillespie of Salisbury, Trey Gillespie of Huntersville, and Mark Blackwell of Salisbury; special cousin, Hubert McNeely, Jr. (Pamela) of Dover, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Arrangements: There is no Public Viewing. Services will be Thursday, September 21, 2023 with Visitation at 4:30 pm and Memorial Service at 5:00 pm in the A.R. Kelsey Memorial Chapel, Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home, Inc. Jerry Blackwell, Officiating.
Masks are required during the services.
