“The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him.” - Proverbs 20:7
It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude for his life that we announce the passing of Mr. Samuel Benjamin Wordsworth on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.
Born in Bong County, Liberia, Samuel's early life was steeped in rich African traditions that shaped his quiet strength and deep sense of responsibility. As a young boy, he moved to Queens, New York, where the pulse of the city, coupled with the values instilled in him from his homeland, forged a man who was both grounded and resilient. His upbringing in the vibrant and diverse communities of Queens taught him the importance of family, hard work, and standing firm in who you are--lessons he carried with him throughout his life.
Samuel was a gentle giant--a quiet soul whose presence spoke volumes. As a husband, father, and grandfather, he embodied the true essence of a protector and provider. He worked diligently as a processing technician with Teijin Automotive Technologies, and even more so in his role at home, ensuring his loved ones were always cared for and supported. Every decision he made was with his family in mind, and his strength was matched only by the tenderness he showed them.
Though soft-spoken, Samuel offered unwavering guidance to those around him. He was a man of integrity, who led not with words, but with action and example. Whether sharing words of wisdom, offering a listening ear, or simply being a steady presence, Samuel made sure his loved ones felt safe, heard, and loved.
Left to carry on his legacy of strength, love, and unity are his devoted wife, Lashona Peake Wordsworth; children, Shaniya Wordsworth Williams (Javon), Samiyah Wordsworth, Simon Wordsworth, all of Salisbury, and Samuel Wordsworth, Jr. (Litzy) of Huntersville; and one precious grandchild who brought him immeasurable joy. He also leaves behind a host of siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Though his voice may now be silent, the lessons he taught, the love he gave, and the protection he offered will echo for generations to come.
