Shirley Reddick Obituary

Mrs. Shirley Esther Holt Reddick, aged 80, transitioned peacefully at her Salisbury residence on December 25, 2024, leaving a legacy of love, faith, and joy that will forever warm the hearts of all who knew her. Born on February 26, 1944, to the late Edward Brown and Marie Holt Johnson, Shirley was a bright light from the beginning.

A proud graduate of J.C. Price High School's Class of 1962, Shirley embarked on a fulfilling career as a school nutritionist with the Rowan-Salisbury School System. Her gentle spirit and dedication ensured that every child she served felt cared for and nurtured.

Shirley shared a beautiful and enduring love with her late husband, Nathaniel Derrick Reddick. Together, they built a home centered on family, faith, and laughter. Her children and grandchild will fondly remember her as their unwavering anchor and inspiration.

Mrs. Reddick was known for her radiant joy and passion for dance. Shirley's love of dancing was an extension of her zest for life--a spirit that uplifted all who joined her company.

A devoted woman of faith, Shirley was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church - Boyden Quarters. She faithfully served on the Usher Board, warmly welcoming congregants and ensuring the church was a place of reverence and hospitality. Her service reflected her deep compassion, grace, and dedication to God and her community.

Preceding her in eternal rest are her parents; her beloved husband, Nathaniel and siblings, Cecil Mack and Margaret Pauline Johnson Brown.

Shirley's memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her loved ones: her cherished children, Thomas L. Reddick of Largo, MD, and Tracy L. Reddick of Salisbury; her treasured grandson, Travis L. Reddick of Salisbury; her loving sister, Deborah Jean Johnson of Greensboro; and her devoted sisters-in-law, Geretha Mack of Pinehurst, Mary Miller of Statesville, and Patricia Johnson of High Point.

In Shirley, we were gifted a beacon of love and laughter, a dancer of life's finest rhythms, and a guiding light of faith. May her memory inspire us all to live with the same joy and grace she so effortlessly shared.

Arrangements: Services will be Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Noble & Kelsey Funeral Home in the A.R. Kelsey Memorial Chapel with Visitation at 12pm and Funeral at 12:30pm. Interment will be at Rowan Memorial Park. Minister Alice Perry, Pastor, Eulogist.

Wow I remember Ms. Shirley from Salisbury High School , she was the best cafeteria worker that I have ever known, especially for our Children with Special Needs, Ms. Shirley did not go by rules when it came to them, what ever they wanted she fixed it and how much they wanted. I would always go there and see her when I left the school and came back to visit what a wonderful soul.. Rest Well Wonderful Servant..Ms. Shirley as I called her...

It was very sad to learn of Shirley's passing. Her family lived across the street. From 1951 to 1962 Shirley was a part of the group of kids that walked to Monroe Street School and then J.C. Price Jr.- Sr. High school.
