Victoria McKenzie

1954 - 2023

Victoria Poe McKenzie, affectionately known as Vicki, was born Aug. 8, 1954 in Anson County. She was born to the late Corine Little McRae and was adopted by the late Jacob and Della Caple Poe. Vicki passed on June 10, 2023 at Hospice of Davidson County leaving a void deeply felt by her family, friends, students, and all those whose lives she touched. Vicki's educational journey included technical certification from Virginia Computer College, Reston, Va., and an Associate Degree from Rowan Cabarrus Community College. She dedicated 40 years of her life to the Rowan-Salisbury School System, working as a Teacher's Specialist supporting children with disabilities and special needs until her retirement in 2013. She was a devoted member of New Hope AME Zion Church where she actively participated in various organizations. However, her true passion was with working with the children. Vicki had a zest for life and had a natural talent for crafts in which she took joy in creating and designing unique jewelry. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Michael McRae. She leaves precious and loving memories to siblings; Charlie Little and Sylvester Little(Patricia) of Thomasville; Brenda Little , Temple Hills, MD; Linda Sue McRae, Thomasville, Patricia Richardson( Scottie), Albuquerque, New Mexico; Ronald McRae(Linda), Winston-Salem, Kelvin McRae, Austin, Tx; aunts, Jeannette Little, Thelma Payne, Delores Little, uncle, Alvin Little, special friends, Debra Douglas, Ernestine Byers, and Min. Affira Graham and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. Arrangements: Services will be held on Thursday, June 22, at New Hope AME Zion Church, Spencer. Visitation at 11:30 am and Funeral Service at 12 pm with the burial following in New Hope AME Zion Church Cemetery.
