William Newman Obituary
MOUNTAIN BROOK, Ala. - William Jerome Newman Jr., age 59, life-long resident of Mountain Brook, passed away Tuesday evening, Oct. 9, 2012.
A graduate of The Citadel in Charleston, S.C., Mr. Newman was preceded in death by his parents, Col. William Jerome Newman and Mary Jean Reynolds Newman.
Survivors include one sister, Donna D. Price (Shelton) of Thorsby, Ala.; one brother, Dr. Leon B. Newman (Brenda) of Salisbury, N.C.; nephews W. Morris Price (Robin) of Birmingham, Ala., and W. Andrew Newman of Salisbury; nieces Vi Lynn Price of Thorsby, Jennifer N. Harris of Seattle, Wash., and Cathryne B. Clark of Salisbury; numerous cousins and other relatives in Texas; and many friends in Charleston, Black Mountain, N.C., and Birmingham, who have been Mr. Newman's life-long joy and support.
Visitation and Service: Family and friends will gather for visitation and a light lunch from 12 noon until the 1 p.m. memorial service Saturday, Oct. 13 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Ala. Everyone is encouraged to dress casually.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Canterbury United Methodist Church, 350 Overbrook Road, Mountain Brook, AL 35213.

My prayers go out to Jerome's family. I met him in 1971 at the Citadel beach house during the freshman cook out our knob year. He was a great friend during our time at the Citadel. I remember many fun times with him at Dino's and at Big John's. He was fondly known as "Bug" Newman to the Citadel Class of 1975.
