Daniel J. Lujan of Kearns, Utah passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 86. He was born August 2 1930 in Taos New Mexico to Jose Herman and Rafaelita Chavez Lujan. Married his sweetheart Carmen Maestas on October 31, 1950 and cherished every day with her.
Dan proudly served his country in the Korean War, receiving many medals and commendations before being honorably discharged to raise his family. He worked at the Kennecott Copper Mine for 37 years and was a barber at B and D Barber Shop for over 50 years before retiring. He loved his trips to Wendover, Las Vegas and Laughlin with his wife and kids and after retirement became an avid golfer. He was a jokester and loved to prank his unsuspecting patrons at the barber shop with his famous elk whistle. He was the best Husband, Dad and Grandpa that a family could ask for and will be sorely missed. Member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Carmen, children Lillian Dominguez (David), Danny Lujan (Shelley), Kathy Peck (Larry), John Lujan (Tracy) and Randy Lujan (Stacie), nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one great great-grandson, and brother, Ernesto Lujan (Mary). Preceded in death by his parents, Jose Herman and Rafaelita Lujan, sister Andrea Romo, brothers Eloy and Mote'.
The family would like to thank Hospice and the staff at Avalon Healthcare, specifically Nichole, Dr. Scheidell, Julie (Masseuse), Carla, Katie (Chaplain), Jordan, Joyce, Stephanie and Melanie Hatley.
Viewing will be held at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Rd. Salt Lake City, Utah 84123 on Sunday March 26 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Monday March 27 from 11:00 to 12:00. Funeral Service to be held 12:00 to 1:00 pm. Burial to be held after service at Memorial Redwood Cemetery.
