April 16, 2010? This world lost the best person to ever walk the earth. The best dad, the best, son, the best brother, and friend. I am so sad that you are no longer here with the boys and I but I am so grateful for all of the time that I did get to spend with you. You mean the world to me! Daddy, you were the one person that I could come to and talk about what was going on and you didn’t for one minute judge me, you were always on my side and when I needed a hero to save me you were the first person I turned to. You were funny, had an amazing personality, and extremely good looking! It still makes me laugh, you’re cheer, “ volcano, volcano, ready to erupt!” I couldn’t have made it where I am today with out you, I just want you to know that I am going to succeed and even though you aren’t physically here I know that you are with me with each and every step in my life! My life has been amazing, and you deserve a lot of credit. You convinced me that you were magic, and definitely taught me how to be spoiled from day one. I remember being in old navy and my mom asked me if I wanted a shirt or the swimming suit, I grabbed them, threw them in the cart and said both! Daddy said okay, and I got my way. You taught me how to stick up for my self. I don’t let anyone walk all over me, and when I don’t think something is right I make it known, and I know if you were still here you would continue to help me fight my battles and keep pushing me! I see so much of my self in you.. and it brings nothing but joy to me! I don’t know what I am going to do with out you, but knowing that you are in a better place and have peace of mind and that gives my heart a rest. I am going to miss you. Our more then daily talks, something so simple but no one will ever be able to replace that! No one will ever be able to replace you! I don’t know how this is going to work, but like you always told me, “ control what you can.” I can control my life. There hasn’t been and wont be a day that I don’t think about you…and your unconditional love for me!! And that love was never ever something I had to question.

Thought the family would like this, he will always be remembered!

May 19, 2010

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Daddy, my love for you is indescribable. When I would see you I would smile, I would laugh, but most of all I would think of your contagious love. You are, and will always be, my Daddy and Best friend. You were the light of my world. I would look forward to seeing you after school, eating lunch with you on short days, playing video games, being coached by you, taking our nearly daily trips to Wal-Mart, and your silly voice mails. I look forward to the day I will see you again. I miss your loving hugs, your warm hands, your beautiful smile, and our handshakes. When I talked to you, you made my troubles go away, and you ALWAYS cared about what I had to say. There isn't a moment I regret being with you, because you made every one fun. You are my life, my world, my support system, my best friend, and my loving daddy. There isn't anything that I wouldn't have done for you. You are, were, and will always be, the BEST Pops anyone could ask for.

I will really miss Dan. It breaks my heart. He was such an amazing person who never missed an opportunity to say hello to me and my family when he saw us. He had a great love for the game of football (even though he was a Denver Broncos fan) and taught me how to truly love the game. He had a great love for his children and would never miss a chance to talk about them. I hope that we will all take the wonderful memories that we have of Dan and help in keeping his memory alive for his family and all of the children whose lives he touched thru coaching. He loved every single one of them. Wilkins Family, Momma "G" and family will always be here if you need us.

Dan will forever be alive in all of us....

Our thought, prayers, love and support are with all of you....

I just heard the sad news tonight..I am so heart broken. I went to school with Dan at Mt Crest whrer I really got to know him on the baseball field. I was a senior and he a freshman where we became friends. We lost touch for a while, somewhere along the way we crossed paths again in Salt Lake. We hungout at his house more than once, went places and had good times. He just got ahold of me on facebook last week.
I have lost a great friend. My heart is saddened as I write this.
God bless his children, may they be comforted in this time of their young lives. I pray for his family.
This is unbelievable, I feel like I have lost a brother.

Dan You were by far the best coach i have ever had. The first reason is that you made me get my first Champiomship in football. The second reason is when we played baseball together you taught me how to bat and now im hitting to so good now. The third reason is that you taught me right from wrong and do's and dont's. the fourth reason is that you were my role model since the first day that i met you. People that were on his football team:
What business are we in?
WINNING!
How's business?
GOOD!

The first time I encountered Dan was several years ago on the football field coaching my son, Justin Caston. Actually, I'm pretty sure I heard Dan, before I encountered him!

Over the years through baseball, football and the kids hanging out together, my husband and I were lucky enough to get to know Dan and his children. Dan was always very well respected on the field and the kids adored him. He was truly a unique person, a great coach and a dedicated Dad.

Dan - I'll miss your warm personality, the fun you always brought to the games and having your shiny head to look for on the football field to tell me I'm in the right spot.

Damen, Sadi, Dylan, Jordan & Devin - your Dad was truly a great guy and will be terribly missed. He will always be in our hearts and memories. Please don't hesitate to let us know if there is ever anything we can do for you.

I worked with Dan for 5 years through the good ol' Nichols days and I witnessed first hand the love he had for his children. He was a great Dad and his children were the light of his life. I am so saddened to hear of this. I can't hold back the tears either. Just knowing he is not with us any longer, somehow there is an empty spot in my heart. I appreciated everything Dan did for me and I considered him my friend. I'll never forget him. To his family, I am so sorry for your loss. I hope that his love and the memories of him will carry you through your life as I know that he will be there with you through it all. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Rest in peace Dan.

To my brother,
I can hardly find the words to summarize how much I already miss you. I miss your smile (though blinding), your laugh, and your whit (though not as good as mine). Thank you for being my big brother, a loving uncle, and my friend. You have been such an important part of my life.

And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years. Thanks for making our years together--though too short--really count.

I love you,

Dear Wilkins Family,
I loved Dan! I am so distraught by this news. Dan hired me at Nichols, I worked with him for 4 years. He would stop by my desk, put a bunch of black bananas on it and suggest I make him banana bread. I always did. A loaf for him and one for the kids.
I will miss him dearly. I pray for peace for him and for your family. May God pour out his spirit upon you all.
