I too remember growing up next to Darren and his family.Being the younger sister of best friends, I remember that when Darren was around, an adventure was going to begin. Through out the years he and Rob kept in touch and there was never a gathering of the Wards that didn't include asking how Darren was doing.
I will always remember him as being kind, hard working and admiring his resourcefulness.
To the Pyper family my deepest condolences, family is still family even though your paths may go different ways.
I may not have been a friend, but I'm glad I got to watch from the sidelines.

I grew up next to Darren, we started off by throwing rocks at each other. We came of age together along with other friends in the neighborhood. I was at his wedding. I always remember exploring our neighborhood until the early morning as kids.
We went our own ways in life but kept in touch with each other. The sad part is that alcohol addiction played a part in his unfulfilled potential. When he was sober he was Darren. I always considered him one of my best friend.

I met Darren in 1971. We had a great childhood running around and getting in the kind of innocent trouble that boys get into. Climbing on the roof at Woodstock Elementary to retrieve playground balls, building dirt forts in empty fields and riding our bikes everywhere...We got together again later in life when we were in our 30's and 40's. Darren was a smart as they come and definitely non-conforming. I always loved his loyalty to his friends and was honored that he called me one of them. RIP Darren.
