Dean Webster Galbraith, 96, passed away at his home on Monday, November 12, 2018. He was born January 3, 1922 in Kaysville, Utah to Wilkie and Christiana Webster Galbraith. He lived his entire life in Kaysville, Utah. Dean graduated from Davis High School in 1940. On November 29, 1943, he married Afton Briggs in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Afton passed away September 21, 2009.
Dean worked with his father on the family farm where he learned the lessons of hard work and invaluable life skills. He was a wonderful father who taught by example and passed these 3 life lessons on to his own children and grandchildren.
Dean worked for Clover Club Foods where he formed many life-long friendships. He was also active in his community serving as President of the Kaysville Irrigation Association.
Dean was well known for the wonderful tomatoes and cantaloupe he raised every year. He took great pride in and got much enjoyment from nurturing his garden. Even when he could no longer do the physical work, he supervised the whole cycle of growing his produce.
During their retirement years Dean and Afton spent winters at their home in St. George, Utah where they enjoyed the company of many good friends. They were charter members of the Pooped Hens and Exhausted Roosters Club and cherished the life-long friendships that resulted from this association.
Dean was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully over the years. He appreciated the visits from his ward and stake representatives to his home.
Dean is survived by his two sons, Kent D. (Nancy) Galbraith, Syracuse; and Carl B. (Holly) Galbraith, Kaysville. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Dean was preceded in death by his wife, Afton, his parents, his daughter, Linda Galbraith Gallacher, brothers, Jay Galbraith and Henry Galbraith, and sister, Anita Galbraith Tanner.
The family wishes to express deepest appreciation to Dr. William Dunson, the staff of the University of Utah Hospital and Clinics and the staff at the Huntsman Cancer Institute for their outstanding care and compassion.
They would also like to thank the many friends and neighbors in West Kaysville for the years of friendship and love shown to Dean.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 16, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Barnes Park Ward Chapel, 200 North and Flint Street, Kaysville. Friends may visit family Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
