Fred Allen Obituary

Fred George Allen 1929 ~ 2009 Fred George Allen, 79, passed away Wednesday July 8th, 2009 in Garden City, Utah at the home of his daughter Carrie A. Hislop.Fred was born in Pocatello, Idaho on September 5, 1929 to George Reed and Laura Ethel McPhail Bell, but he called Jack Provonsha, "Dad." He has three brothers; Thomas Lynn Bell (deceased), Richard William Bell (Helen) and Arwin Victor Provonsha (Judy). He grew up in the Rose Park area of Salt Lake City and attended West High School. He was a photographer for the year book and also a projectionist. Fred was drafted into the service during the Korean conflict and left the service honorably as a Sergeant. He married Virginia Ellen Dehrer on April 15, 1956, they have four children; Julie A. Stone (Cory) of Spanish Fork, UT, Jeffrey Lynn Allen of SLC, UT, Carrie A. Hislop (Steve) of Garden City, UT, and Darrell Judd 'D.J.' Allen of SLC, UT. Fred also has nine grandchildren and six great-grandsons. Fred was hard-working; he worked for Eimco for 25 years and 10 years at Hertz. He loved to play golf and also enjoyed spending time with his friend's at Totems. Private memorial services will be held later this month.
