IMHO Gary was one of the greats. Immense contributions to computer science in its formative years, legendary Halloween parties, and wonderful companionship. His life was so filled with travel, interests, hobbies, animal companions, professional accomplishments, and teaching, it's hard to conceive how one person could have done it all! As long as I can remember, Gary, you've been a great and supportive friend to my mom and all of our family. Although I submit I was likely the worst dog sitter you ever hired (sorry about the rugs!) I will always remember you as a joyful, avuncular presence in my life. Thank you.
