Dr. Glade Y. Creer 1932 ~ 2008 On November 10, 2008, a true servant to all people was taken from our midst at his home in Springville, Utah after a valiant battle with cancer along with pulmonary illness.Dr. Glade Youd Creer was born May 16, 1932 in Lake Shore, Utah to William Robert and Ann Elizabeth Youd Creer. He had a wonderful childhood growing up in Lake Shore near many of his cousins. His early childhood education was in Lake Shore. He graduated from Spanish Fork High School. After graduating, he worked at Douglas Aircraft in Southern California. Following this, Glade signed for the draft and was immediately shipped to Korea after basic training at Fort Ord, California. He worked along the battlefront in fierce fighting from August 19, 1952 to June 26, 1954. Following his military service, he attended and graduated from Brigham Young University. He was accepted at Case Western Reserve University Dental School at Cleveland, Ohio, graduating in 1961. While attending dental school, he worked for Whitney Brothers Construction Company. In spring 1965, he met Nora Morrill Holdaway. He always said that "at the tender age of 33, I finally met Nora and with her received a bonus: three children; Jerry, Nyle and Susan." Later they added Anna and Paul. Dr. Creer practiced dentistry in Springville for 39 years and took gentle care of many, many people. He was always referred to as "painless." During this period of time, he had faithful employees who were always dear friends to Dr. Creer, Nora and family: Myrna and Larry Robertson, Brenda and Ed Brown, Julie and Steve Kappas, Nan and Larry Murray, Terese and Randy Revoir, and Helen (deceased) and Phil Whitney. Glade served on the Springville Planning Commission for eight years before pursuing election for City Council, serving an eight-year term. He also served with Nora at the Springville Museum of Art and helped her for many years with Primary Children's Medical Center and Festival of Trees. Whatever they were involved in together they did as a team. Their home was open to many fundraising efforts. In his later years, he pursued sculpting and later donated two of his works to the City of Springville at one of the ballparks in 2004. He enjoyed gardening, fishing with his family and several friends. Many friends referred to him as their best friend. He is survived by his wife, Nora; son, Jerry (Jennifer) Holdaway; daughter, Susan (Kenneth) Trahan; daughter, Anna; son, Dr. Paul (Bethany) Creer; grandchildren: Elise, Brandon, Aaron, David, Shaye, Kendall, Brynn, Colby, Emma, Joshua and Cooper Glade; brothers, Rex Y.
