Gordon Paul Obituary

"Gordy"
1952 ~ 2017
Our dear friend and cousin passed away too early on February 4, 2017 at the age of 64.
He was born May 7, 1952 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Gordon Hewitt Paul Jr. and Illah Dean Sundblom. He worked for Warner Publishers Services as a Route Merchandiser and spent a lifetime searching out old books and antique items with a passion. He truly loved going to Lemon's Grove in Francis, UT on the weekends for decades and always found it a calming place to reunite with friends and family. He was an honest, lovable, and loyal friend who lived life on his own terms; he will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his aunt Lorna Paul Torgerson; cousin Harry Lawrence Torgerson Jr.; cousins Richard and Glen Sundblom; cousin Steven Paul Nielsen; cousin Charlie Ainge; and cousin once removed Melissa Tedesco.
He is preceded in death by his parents Gordon Paul Jr. and Illah Dean Sundblom.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 16th at 11:00 AM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. He will be buried at the Springville City Cemetery at 2:00 PM following the funeral. Online condolences may be offered at www.starksfuneral.com.

Gordon, I will never forget our fun times in Coulter Bay. Those summers were the most fun times.

So many good memories of Gordon, from our days in Colter Bay Village. He was a solid fellow who gave us good leadership. Although its been years since I last saw him, he still has an influence.
We called him "Gordon Blue" like the cooking school for always arranging big bonfires for everyone, and some people called him Gor-Don (like doan), saying it with a Spanish accent.
He was a great story teller, and a kind fellow.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Gordon's passing. He was a family friend and always very interesting to visit. We met while working summers in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Our friendship continued over the years in Salt Lake City. We shared a love of books and special old things. Gordon was a life saver when my parents died and I needed help clearing out the family home in Bountiful. He brought a calm influence and solid assistance - frankly he took control of liquidating a lifetime collection of household items of questionable value to me, but to him our trash was his treasure. He saved my sanity. Gordon will always reside in my memories and in my heart.

It was always nice to run into you at Thrift stores. You were great to talk to and always had interesting stories about the records I was picking up. I'll miss out banter.

I was stunned to read about Gordon's passing. It seems like yesterday that we were sharing memories and laughing about good times at our West High class reunion. As a rather mismatched trio, Gordon, John Baxter and I has a lot of fun together our senior year. He was a good friend, and I was looking forward to meeting again at the next reunion. Guess it will have to wait.

Sorry to hear about the passing of Gordy Paul. He was our cousin and nephew. While we did not have close contact in our later years, we shared many childhood memories as our families spent time together at Pine Lake communing with nature, fishing and sitting around the campfire. Great times were had by all. Rest In Peace, Love Karen Martz and JoAnne Sundblom

I am saddened to see this in the paper. Gordon, I don't suppose I need to tell you of Skip's death now. We used to look forward to your yard sales and bumping into you at the D.I. rummaging through the books and various other collectables. It was always fun talking about your latest escapades and catching up on old times in the neighborhood. You will be missed. Good bye for now.

It was great getting to know "Gordy" and having many conversations with him. Our little community was a small one, but filled with friendship and good times. Lemon's Grove will miss you and I know he will miss being there every Saturday til Sunday. I hope there is a Lemon's Grove waiting for all of us and that you are there welcoming us with your weekend cake! Rest easy friend!
