During World War II, while in Hawaii she met her first husband Ija Korner. Jean and Ija married in 1947 and moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1949. Their marriage of 32 years produced Jean's only child Kim, also born in 1953 on July 4. Kim was born in Salt Lake City, while his father was a professor of psychology at the University of Utah. During that time Jean was the director of O.T. at the Salt Lake City General Hospital. The Korners all enjoyed skiing, hiking, climbing, and many other outdoor activities. Their family enjoyed traveling together. Their travels took them to the Northwest Territories of Canada, Central America, and many countries in Europe. They resided in India for a year, while Ija was on a Fulbright Scholarship. Ija died in Mexico on January 18, 1978, while with a group of University of Wisconsin - Green Bay students. After Ija's death, Jean and Kim relocated to Austin, Texas where Kim received his Ph.D. Kim, an assistant professor of computer sciences at Mill's College in Oakland California, was tragically killed while cycling on June 27, 1993. Jean married a close friend of the family in 1980, James Bennett. He was also an avid skier and climber. Jimmy's two beautiful daughters Vivienne and Dina were reared close to Jean's son Kim. Jean and Jimmy relocated from the east coast to Salt Lake City to enjoy old and new friends and beautiful environs. Jean and Jimmy Bennett also traveled extensively during their 24 years of marriage. After a brief illness Jimmy died on April 1, 2004. Both Ija and Jim were Austrian Holocaust survivors. Jean was a very loyal friend and adventurous woman. Even after the death of her two husbands and son she continued to lead an amazing life. She continued to enjoy one of her true passions, traveling. Her travels included Peru, Vietnam and finally India. For 50 years Jean also spent time in her family retreat in the Selkirk Mountains of Canada.
