Jeffery Lloyd Averett, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away March 4, 2015 after a three year battle with cancer. This was his third fight with cancer during his life.
Funeral services will be held at the LDS chapel at 10351 Bayhill Drive, Cedar Hills on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. A small memorial will also be held in Arizona in the next few weeks. In lieu of flowers, Jeff asked for donations to be made to help his widow with outstanding medical and living expenses. Donations can be made via Wells Fargo, account 1217313194.
Jeff was born November 13, 1955 to Bill and Darlene Averett. He was the oldest of three children and grew up in West Valley City, Utah. He spent much of his career working as an aircraft mechanic for the military and later as a mechanic and inspector of aircraft in the private sector. Jeff was known for his great sense of humor, for his patience and down-to-earth attitude, and for his drive and perseverance. He loved riding his Harley Davidson, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Wendy, who he married on December 29, 2008 and by his children, Jenney (Matt) Rees, Sean (Shannon) Averett, and Jeffery Averett Jr. He was the proud grandfather of two service members, Airman Brayden Haywood (Navy) and Private Sean Averett (Army); his favorite singer, granddaughter Madeline Rees; his favorite pianist, granddaughter Ashley Rees; and loved being a grandpa to Hannah Rees, Brianna Averett, Me'elani Averett, Darian Averett, and Johanna Averett. He is also survived by his father, Bill Averett, brother Mark (Joanna) Averett, and sister Sharon (Steve) Stocks. He is preceded in death by his mother, Darlene Averett.
