John Rebol Obituary

5/7/1929 ~ 3/29/2013
John Rebol, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother passed away peacefully on March 29, 2013.
John was born May 7, 1929 in Helper, UT to John and Katerina Rebol. He graduated from Carbon High in 1947. John served as a sergeant in the Korean War before graduating from Carbon College in 1956. He was always very proud and fond of growing up in Carbon County. John married Josephine Perez on October 5, 1963, and they shared a life together for the past 49 years.
John had many jobs, including foreman during the construction of Flaming Gorge Dam before settling in with Utah Railway where he worked as an engineer for over 20 years. John retired early to do what he enjoyed most - caring for his yard and garden, competing with friends to have the first ripe tomato every year and taking the Fun Bus to Wendover every week to play Keno and bet on sports. He leaves his children with his love of puzzles and passion for learning. John often boasted that he had read every book in the Helper Library, and as many books as his eyesight would allow.
John is survived by his wife Josie Rebol; four children, John (Shasta), Judy (Clark) Prothero, Robert (Shelly), and David (Nicole); sister Katie Saccomanno; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his mother Katerina and sisters Elsie (Bonino) and Pauline (Faylor).
A viewing will be held the morning of Tuesday, April 2, 2013 from 10-12 at Walker Funeral Home 187 S. Main, Spanish Fork, followed by a eulogy. A memorial luncheon will be held immediately after the eulogy at San Andreas Catholic Church 315 E. 100 N. Payson.
