John Smith Stringham  John Smith Stringham, 65, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2002, at his home in Provo, Utah, due to an extended illness.  John was born on June 20, 1937, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Briant Smith and Hazel Sessions Stringham. He grew up in Clearfield, Utah, and graduated from Davis High in 1955. John served an honorable full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) in the Southwest Indian Mission. He graduated from BYU in 1963. In 1977, John became a Realtor, where he became well known as a man of great integrity and character and was referred to by many as Honest John. He was a man without guile. He finished his career working for Coldwell Banker West Realty in Provo, Utah. Earlier this year, John turned over his business to his son, Richard.  John accepted every Church calling ever extended to him, and he recently served as bishop of his local ward for nearly five years. John was a faithful husband, father, brother, and friend. He was loved and revered from his youth by everyone who became acquainted with him.  John is survived by his wife, Jerolyn Peterson Stringham, all eight of their children, two brothers, two sisters, and 13 grandchildren. His parents and one brother preceded him in death.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 1, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the Edgemont North Stake Center, 4300 North Canyon Road, Provo, Utah. Friends and family may call at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, Utah, on Wednesday, July 31, 2002, from 6-8 p.m., and at the Stake Center on Thursday morning from 9-10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral services. Interment will be at the East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery in Provo.  In lieu of flowers, John requested that donations be made in his behalf to the LDS Church Perpetual Education Fund, which assists less fortunate individuals in gaining higher education.

I remember John's beautiful singing

voice. I remember the sense of humor

he had and how much he loved people.

I only remember once that he lost

patience with my mother who was a real trial. We will miss John! He was the one who gave me blessings of comfort when I needed them.
