Joe was predeceased by his father Joseph, his mother Lois and friend Klyde Earl.
He was born in Denver, Colorado and grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah where he eventually met his first wife Phyllis whom he had two children with. He later married his second wife, Shana. Some of his greatest joy came from his children, family and closest friends.
He took an active role in the lives of his children even though circumstances were not ideal. His guidance and advice truly shaped the paths his children would take and still prove to be helpful for Trav & Jess.
Joe had many professions throughout his life. He worked as a Hod Tender (brick layer), sales, Army National Guard, and many other odd jobs until he found his niche selling newspaper advertising where he worked for many years at the Newspaper Agency Corp, Reagan Outdoor, McClatchey newspaper and Craft magazine.
Joe had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. He often spent his spare time researching topics of interest or reading books. Playing golf with family and friends was a huge passion for Joe. He also spent much of his life in the gym lifting impossibly heavy weights and swimming. Joe loved traveling and never turned down a good road trip. He really enjoyed his trips golfing, river rafting, fishing and traveled extensively doing these hobbies.
Joe was never scared to take on new opportunities and did everything with honesty and integrity. He had very strong values and was well liked by everyone, mostly due to his positive energy and sense of humor. Joseph was a protector, and he was a hero to many in his life, especially his brother, sisters and children.
His legacy will carry on forever reminding us that we control our attitudes. We choose to live a life of meaningful acts of love, humor and service.
There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed we are to our family and friends who were there for us on the night of his passing.
There will be a celebration of life that is currently being planned.
