JOYCE VIPPERMAN Obituary

Joyce L. Vipperman "Will the Circle be Unbroken" We lost our beloved sister, mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother to cancer on January 18, 2010. She was surrounded by her loving family. Mom was born October 5, 1929, in Salina, Utah, to William Robinson and Sarah Estella McGregor LeFevre. Mom spent her early years in Tropic. The family moved to Salt Lake County during World War II. Mom was working as a switchboard operator in San Diego when she met Robert Herald Vipperman, who was serving in the Navy. Mom and Dad were married on April 11, 1957. Dad died December 2, 2005. Like many women of her generation, Mom spent most of her life being a homemaker. She was a good wife and a loving mother and the anchor of our family. Once all her children were in school, Mom worked outside the home for several years at places such as Lynn Wilson, Burdett Apparel, and LeVoy's. Mom was proud of her pioneer ancestry and helped found the Sunbonnet Camp of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Mom is survived by her children: Craig, who took good care of her the past four years, Robert (Denise) of Layton; Linda of Portland, Lisa (Kirk) of Sunset; Janet (Ben) of South Weber; Joyce (Gary) of Ogden; six grandchildren, who brought her great joy: Cara (Tony), Austin, Irene, Sierra, Autumn, and Skyler; her brother, Bill and his wife Shirley; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Our mother spent the last 12 days of her life in intensive care at Salt Lake Regional. We thank all her care givers for their kindness and compassion. Funeral services will be held Friday, 1:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road where viewings will be held Thursday, 6-8 p.m. and Friday, 12-12:45 p.m. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

I will miss you every day. I will miss being able to call and/or just drop in whenever. We spent so many hours just hanging out and talking. You were always glad to go anywhere with any of your kids. Whether it was to lunch, to a Jazz game or traveling anywhere. You and Dad will always remain in my heart. Love, Janet

While looking for songs for your funeral, Mom, I heard that Brad Paisley song, "The World". To paraphrase, to the world, Mom may have been just another lady, but to us, she was the world. Now I understand that song I heard as a child, "Sometimes I feel Like a Motherless Child". Sad.
