Dear Dawn and Family: I've never met you, unfortunately, but this tragedy has brought back wonderful memories of the Helsinki, Finland mission. He was my District Leader at a time that he made a good impression upon me. He was diligent, funny, friendly and a great man. I looked up to him--he was a little bit senior to me in the mission--and he was a good missionary. While I have not had the pleasure of speaking with him since the mission, I am thankful our paths crossed and he left a good impression upon me and other missionaries and Finns. Hey Ken, we miss you down here. Thanks for being a friend and working with you, I always felt safe knowing that you were at the helm when taking calls at the U. Ken, you always looked on the bright side of life and found the positive in any situation. Driving all the way to Atlanta and back so we could attend a convention was a true test to just how determined you were.
To Dawn,
I only met you briefly on a few occasions, please let me assure you that Ken was one of the best, a friend and co-worker. I pray for you and hope that the strength of our heavenly father can see you and your children through this time. I will always be a better person for meeting Ken.

Ken always had a smile on his face and a positive outlook. He was a great resource to bounce ideas off of and to commiserate with on work staffing issues. He always tried to find the good in every situation. He was a great guy and I will miss him.

I have only known you for a short while, but have been impressed with the way you arrive early to Karate class, and help set up, without being asked. Your eagerness to learn, and respectful way you conduct yourself is commendable. After reading what other people have said about your father, and family, I understand why you are the way you are. In the sort time that I got to know him he was great man and an inspiration to me at how he involved himself into his family. We enjoyed his and michaels company in our home as home teachers. I spent last summer with Ken at Boy Scout Summer camp, and was so looking forward to it again this year. He was a driving force of the scouting program in our area. He was a prominent figure in the community. The loss of his influence will be greatly felt in so many ways. The prayers of my family are with him and his. God be with you, till we meet again.

I have known Kenny since we were teenagers in San Bernardino. Unfortunately, I haven't had the pleasure of meeting you. The news of Kennys death has wrenched my heart. The last time I saw Kenny was about 5 years ago when he came to our house for dinner here in Cedar City. I'm saddened that we have to experience tragedy to realize how special small memories of loved ones are. Dawn and Family,
Our hearts and thoughts are continually with you. The last lesson I heard Ken give was one on anchors; and being a "moral anchor" in one's life. He was an anchor in his family, in his community, and among his friends. We will miss the campouts deeply. He was jovial and accepting of everyone he met, and he had a way of making you feel instantly at home. Michael and kids, you've been well prepared by a great man whose life I look up to. We are such so sad to hear of Kennys passing. We think back to when we were first married and you just had Spencer, and how Kenny called us the day you got home to have us come over and see the new baby. His affection for you Dawn and his kids is what you hold on to now. We will cherish the many bar-b-q's and sunday dinner's and FHE's memories at your apartment. Kenny was a great home teacher and most all he was our friend. Kenny begging us to have a baby so our kids could know each other. I know Ken thought of you guys first. thats why he moved you up to Utah to make a better life for your kids. Know you are thought of at this time. Dear Sis. Duckworth and family, I'm so sorry for your loss. I worked with Kenneth at the Jordan River Temple for a probably a year and he was always sharing about his family and it was so wonderful to see him bring his boys to the temple. My more intimate encounter with Dawn and Ken was doing sealing with them at the temple and sitting in with them. That was an important duty for the two of you to do. I have had the great good fortune to work with Ken for the past 6 years (2 peripherally, and the past 4 as one of his dispatchers). Ken was a man with a tremendous spirit, a great sense of humor, and an unwavering devotion to that in which he believed. His devotion to his family was unquestionable, and he made it very clear to his dispatch team that OUR families must always come first as well.
At work, Ken was a powerful force. I always knew that I had his support should things get rocky, we all did. There was never any question as to his dedication to those that worked under him, nor about his commitment to the success of the department. I learned a great deal from Ken, and benefited much from knowing him.
Ken will be greatly missed. There will never be a day that I will walk into the dispatch center and not remember all that he did for me, for all of us. He left an indelible mark upon the University Police Department, and upon my life.

Dawn, we only met a few times but we worked with Ken at the Primerica office in West Jordan. His smile was infectious and his love and friendliness always shone brightly. I drove past the accident soon after it happened Monday and was stricken to realize he was gone...so quickly, so young. I didn't know Ken personally, but my son took some merit badge classes from him and I had the opportunity to sit it on the classes. Ken certainly knew had to relate to teenage boys as he made these classes informative and fun. May his family feel peace and comfort during this difficult time.

Life is so fragile. I met "KD", as I called him at the University Of Utah Police Department years ago when he started as a security officer. He assisted me on many calls and situations. He was always willing to help, loved his job and was good at what he did. He eventually became a Dispatch Supervisor. "KD" always took care of his people. The safety of the police officers was always number one. I will truly miss his friendship and caring spirit. May his family be blessed with the comfort and peace of our Heavenly Father, until we meet again.....Love ya "KD". Please watch over us all.
