Logan Bishop Obituary

Logan Grant Bishop
1/26/2002 ~ 4/21/2016
Meadow, UT-Logan Grant Bishop, born on his Grandpa Larson's birthday, January 26, 2002, passed away April 21, 2016. Logan was born in Ogden, UT and immediately moved to Chubbuck, ID for the first seven years of his life. Logan and his family later moved to Tusayan, AZ for two years where Logan grew to love the outdoors. He hiked the Grand Canyon and explored the area around the South Rim. Five years ago, they moved to Meadow, UT and instantly felt at home.
Logan will be remembered as a kind, smart, talented teenager who had a fun-loving, spunky personality. He was extremely well-rounded and excelled in school, music, and soccer. He competed on the Science and Math Olympiad teams and was a member of the National Honor Society. He was a defender on the U15 soccer team that traveled throughout central Utah to compete. In 2015, Logan and his teammates had an undefeated (13-0) season. In addition to soccer, he loved doing anything active: swimming, camping, playing in the snow, digging 6' holes in the backyard, and building blanket forts with his brothers. He was always up for an adventure of any kind.
Logan also enjoyed everything about music (except practicing the piano and drums). He played the drums in the middle school band and was looking forward to playing them in high school. In addition to drums and piano, he was also learning the guitar. He always had music playing and loved to find new artists and genres. In 2014, Logan wanted to learn Hip Hop dance. So as a 12-year-old he enrolled in dance class: the only boy with 80 girls at the dance studio. Logan and his family traveled to dance competitions around the state. The instructors and other dancers accepted and included him. He loved every part of it.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and he loved service. Logan was constantly helping those around him and was a friend to all. He wanted everyone to be included and have what they needed to be happy. He was also a prankster. Giving him your iPhone was sure to lead to hours of figuring out how to get your settings back while he grinned mischievously ear to ear. He continued to brighten lives even at the end by being an organ donor.
While Logan's battle with bipolar disorder ended, his influence and light will continue to brighten those who knew him. His warrior spirit is no longer caged in the body that was tormented for so long. While our hearts are aching, we are grateful he is finally at peace after fighting his battle every minute of every day.
Logan is survived by his parents, Gary and Aironn Bishop, and his three brothers: Thomas, Ethan, and Dylan Bishop of Meadow, UT. He is survived by grandparents, Leslie Bishop, American Fork, UT; Farrell Larson, Meadow, UT; Irene Larson, Wasilla, AK; aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Clyn S. Bishop.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 30 at 11 am at the Fillmore Stake Center located at 25 South 300 West, Fillmore, UT. A viewing will be held at the same location Friday, April 29 from 6-8 pm and Saturday from 9-10:30 am. Interment in the Meadow Cemetery. Online condolence rasmussenmortuary.com

I do not know you or your son but felt compelled to reach out to your family. As someone who struggles with bipolar disorder and who also has a young son who struggles with bipolar disorder, I want to tell you that I am sorry for what your son had to endure. It is such a cruel disease. It is also hard to watch someone you love lose a battle to it. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time. Fly high young one. You no longer have the burdens of this world.

As a parent of a son Logan's age with bipolar disorder, I am deeply touched by the beauty of your tribute to him and the profound depth of his and your family's struggle with this misunderstood affliction. His brilliance shines through in the photo you've posted. I'm so sorry for your loss and will keep you all in thought and prayer.
