Lou Bear Obituary

1952 ~ 2017
On February 28, 2017 our father and grandfather, Lou Franklin Bear passed away. He is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Judy, and is survived by his five children: Bridgett (Philip), Carrol (Daniel), Joseph (Elizabeth), Patrick (Amanda), Christina (Alan) and twelve grandchildren.
Frank was born September 8, 1952, the oldest of seven children born to James and Betty Bear. He attended school at Granger High before moving onto becoming an artist in organic metal sculpture and design techniques, eventually owning his own business. He became a master craftsman and was known for his keen eye and attention to detail. His work can be seen in places like the Salt Lake LDS Temple and the Cathedral of the Madeleine, as well as high end homes and businesses throughout the western United States.
His quick wit and wicked sense of humor will be missed by everyone who had the opportunity/misfortune to argue politics, religion or philosophy with him. He challenged us to open our minds and to question everything. It is that legacy we plan to share with future generations to come.

I promised you I would learn to fish. I took the plunge, and have been fishing. I want to thank you for insisting I do that. You were right: my mind goes quiet, I notice the little things: the breeze, the bird song, the flash of the fish below the surface, the scent of the trees, the feel of the water against the line. Thank you for that gift you knew I needed more than I realized

Miss the conversations and debates.

Happy Birthday dad! Seems like a silly thing to say now but you know. We were going to go fishing today to remember you but it rained. Maybe we will eat Chinese food instead. Miss you dad. Wish I could hug you. XO

Thinking about you on the eve of your birthday. I took Rylee to her first day of preschool today. I see Mom so much when I look at her. She is growing so fast and I wish you and Mom were to see it. Love and miss you Dad.

Dear Bear Family,
Your parents and several others of us were neighborhood friends for many years. Your dad was very talented in his iron workings. It is sad to see him pass so soon after your mother's passing, but as the tribute was given by the two roses, together again, forever!
May the memories by sweet and ever lasting.
Love ya'

Patrick, I am so sorry to read about your father. Lou possessed such a fun and loving spirit that everyone will miss. He reflected God's creative and happy qualities wonderfully and will not be forgotten by Him or anyone else who knew her. Genesis 1:27; Malachi 3:16.

You are in my prayers. May God comfort you through your grieving. Sending our deep condolences.

Over nearly 20 years, Lou and I discussed politics, religion, life, death, UFO's UTI's, cancer, kids, marrage, virtues vs truth and every other thing in between. He was my friend, my mentor, my surrogate father, my sounding board, someone to argue with, someone to tell where to go, someone who told me where to go... And besides my husband, the best man I have ever known. I will always here him in my ear, fell him in my heart and live a better life because of his presence in mine.
