Matthew Swain Obituary
Matthew Robert Swain, our beloved son, father, nephew and cousin, left this worldly home for a more peaceful one on November 22, 2012. Matthew was born on January 2, 1976 to Robert and Debra Mecham Swain. Matt cherished his time spent hunting with his dad Hank and fishing with his Grandpa Leo. He was also a passionate and talented musician. Above all else he loved being a father to his daughter Sonja, the love of his life.
Matthew is survived by his mother Debra Hangge, father Hank Gundry, daughter Sonja Swain and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. We will gather in celebration of his life on Wednesday, November 28th from 5-8 p.m. at the Majestic Oaks clubhouse at 4635 Grandeur Peak Circle (840 W.)

I had the ability to see Matt also daily at work. There were many small and large conversations. I watched Matt´s happiness grow while he fathered Sonja. Could she be about 16 now? And Matt close to retirement? He often crosses my mine when I hear live music. He was a good amigo to me. I had a lot of gratitude knowing I had the honor to work and converse with a caring young man. Thinking of you Matt, until we see one another play a song for me!

To Matt's love ones, I just got the news today of Matt's passing. Sadden and feeling the loss of such a beautiful young man. At work I had many opportunities to talk to Matt which is something he did with such ease. Matt never said an ill word about anyone, his conversations where very inclusive and entertaining. To his family, I wish you peace and time for healing.

We are so sorry to hear of Matt's passing. Matt was the best neighbor anybody could ask for. He was always there to help - like when my grandson had slivers in his feet, he was there to take them out for me. Before we had cable hooked up he allowed us to borrow from his movie library, he let us borrow his laptop to look up concert tickets and he would invite us over to sit around his “campfire”. He will be greatly missed! Our hearts go out to Sonja, just know he loved you dearly!

I am so sorry for your loss! The last time we saw Matt he was documenting the life of a black widow spider with his daughter. It was so cute to see them taking pictures and enjoying their time with one another. He will be missed! Our prayers are with you all!

I'm so sad and sorry to see one of my best installers at such a young age pass away. I've always been impressed with Matt's can do attitude, his willingness to help whenever or whomever he could. He had such a great friendly personality you couldn't help but like him at your initial meeting. Rest in peace Matt you were one of a kind. Prayers for your family in their time of sorrow.

Nikki and Sonja, I was very sad to hear about Matt. He was in my view a gentle soul with a big heart. Robert and I have fond memories of the time we spent in his company at Cancun and Bernalillo. Losing him is like the sun falling behind a cloud. It makes everything seems and look so different, but eventually I know the sun will shine again for you both. Matt, my brada. I can't believe it... It's seems like just yesterday we were chillin in your moms basement and you got your first base guitar. I'll never forget how excited you were. Self taught talent! We saw many a concerts and hiked tons of hills together. We did so much together. He was one of my best friends growing up. Those were the days. You will be missed man. My jaw dropped when I saw this. Although I haven't seen Matt since I was a kid I remember him being around the Sharpsteen's house when I was there hanging out with Emily.
