Phil was one of the best soldiers I have ever had the pleasure and honor of serving with. As his roomate for a short time, Phil and I discussed many aspects of life and it was evident that he knew more about life than most his age. His legacy will remain eternally set in the hearts and minds of all of us who served with him in Iraq. Phil, you are in a better place now,and I know you are still setting the standard for excellence. We love you and good luck. We will miss you.

Jan,

Even though I never met Phil I know how much y'all were worried about him when he was in Irag. His death is a surprise and shock to all the students and teachers at Brighton. I would like to extend my heartfelt sympathies to you and let you know that I will be here for you no matter what.

Dear Family,

My heart aches for you all as you go though this time. You are on day 8. I also lost my son last summer, during his Basic Training in Ft. Jackson S.C. I know the pride you all feel for Philip and his sacrifice he was willing to do for his country. I also know the pain in your heart and soul. I can't tell you it will get better right now, it still hurts. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Dear Long Lost Brother,

Even though I knew you for many years, it feels like it was cut short far too early. We went from X-Men to Metalheads and back. You'll be in my thoughts every time I pick up a guitar or hear a Korn song. If there is a hereafter, watch over me. Thanks for being my friend.

Yours truly,

Marcus --

John told me today of the loss of your son. I was so sad to hear the news, and want you to know how much we all love you and share in your sorrow at Philip's death. I know how much you loved him. The comfort will come, but not always as soon as we hope. Be patient with the timetable as it unfolds, and savor all the lessons along the way, for they are many and sweet for parents who bury their children too soon. That's a promise from those who know and who love you all.

Praise the Lord for the young men and women who want to serve our country to protect our freedom. Our son recently joined the Marines and pray daily that God will protect him. In the same way, we pray that the Lord will comfort you during this time of sorrow. Know that your son is walking the beautiful streets of Heaven in God's perfect Kingdom, the Kingdom we can only dream about. Your son is a Hero and I'm sure you are very proud of him.

We pray for you and yet we do not frame in words the thousand wishes of our hearts. It is a prayer only to speak your name, to think of you when we are apart. God has not need of words. He hears our love and though our lips are mute we bow our heads and know He leans to listen above and understands the things that are not said. For love is prayer - and so our prayers for you mount upward unto Him eternally. They are not many and they are not few, all are as one that ever seem to be. Thus do we pray for you and cannot say when we begin or when we cease to pray.

Our special condolences to you Marcus and Marie.

You don't even know me, but as I came across your son's obituary, I felt the need to express my sympathy to you. We lost our 24 year old son just over 1 1/2 years ago and he is buried by the fountain at the same cemetery in which your son will be laid to rest. My heart goes out to you because I know your sorrow and that life will never be the same. I hope that Heavenly Father will give you peace and comfort at this time.
