Queed Weiler Obituary

Our loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend, Queed Holmgren Weiler passed away peacefully on January 16, 2018 from metastatic melanoma. He was born in Salt Lake City on March 18, 1929 to William F. Weiler and Octavo Holmgren Weiler. He grew up in the Highland Park area and attended Irving Jr. High, East High School and the University of Utah, affiliating with Delta Phi Fraternity, graduating in 1952 with a Banking and Finance degree. During his college years he had the privilege of serving with his father, Brigadier General William F. Weiler, while enlisted in the Utah National Guard. He retired as a 1st Lieutenant after 11 years in the Guard.
Queed served an L.D.S. Mission to the Central Atlantic States from 1948 - 1950. Upon his return home he joined two study groups of returned missionaries; one with his old friends from East High School, and the other with missionaries from his own mission. Both of these groups continued to meet each month for 65 years.
In 1950 Queed began his lifelong courtship with Jean Lambert. They were married on August 15, 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple by Apostle Ezra Taft Benson.
Queed worked for Prudential Federal Savings and Loan Assoc. for 28 years. He later obtained a Real Estate Broker's License and served in many professional and civic organizations.
He was a faithful member of the L.D.S. Church during his entire life, holding many leadership positions in quorums, troops, groups, bishoprics, high councils, and was called with Jean to preside over the Jamaica Kingston Mission in 1991. They loved their missionaries and established many enduring friendships with the Jamaican saints. Jean and Queed also enjoyed serving in the Salt Lake Temple for 11 years.
Queed had a great love of sports, and that love was embraced by the rest of his family as both participants and fans. He was a founding member of the Willow Creek Country Club and was lucky enough to score five "hole-in ones" during his lifetime. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and hiking. To celebrate his 70th birthday, he and several family members climbed Kings Peak. He was a loyal U. of U. sports fan, and for about 30 years he operated a sideline telephone at all home football games.
Queed was a wonderful and caring father, grandfather and great grandfather and loved spending time with family. He and Jean particularly enjoyed taking their children and spouses on cruise vacations and celebrating family reunions by playing and laughing together. Their family has been their greatest joy during 65 years of a very happy marriage.
Queed's life can be exemplified by three "F"s - "Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, "Family" love and solidarity, and "Friends" who made his life's journey so enjoyable.
Queed is survived by his devoted wife Jean, four sons and two daughters: Mike (Susan Barnes), Mark (Marjean Danley), Scott (Elizabeth Southwick), Kirk (Jennifer Frost), Christine (Dan Lake), and Colleen (Blair Lofgreen), and younger brother Peter (Amy Call). His posterity also includes 23 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, older brother Bill (Bonnie Hansen), and his younger sister Connie (Lynn Reese).
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 22, 2018 at 12:00 noon at the Moss Hill Ward, 455 South 1200 East, Bountiful, UT. A viewing will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 N. Main St., Bountiful and Monday 10:30 -11:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Such a wonderful man. He was an example to all. I remember his acts of kindness and service to others. He would take a walk and put all the neighbors trash cans away for them. Always thoughtful of others and uplifting. Jean, you are in our prayers.

I cannot say enough about Queed. He was a wonderful person all-around and an earth angel as a neighbor to Mom. He and Jean watched out for her daily, performing tasks around the yard, even taking her to church activities with them. Our family loves and appreciates them with all our hearts! I pray for heaven to comfort and bless you and your dear family, Jean.

President Weiler. I know him as such because he was my mission President. He was truly a man of God and this was felt by all who were fortunate to be around him. He never failed to share his testimony of Jesus Christ and helped me to develop a stronger love for the Lord. He was loved and will truly be missed!
