Robert Blake Obituary

Robert Joseph Blake Jr.

1969 ~ 2023

Robert Joseph Blake Jr, age 53, died doing what he loved on March 10, 2023 in Hurricane, Utah. He was born in Meadville, Pennsylvania on October 29, 1969, to Robert Joseph Blake Sr and Melissa Kay Richael Ostrander. On April 25, 2011, he married Paige LeAnn Bogue Poulsen in Kaysville, Utah.

Robert is an Eagle Scout and graduated from Meadville Area High School. He served in the U. S. Navy for four years and with the Utah Army National Guard for 18 years. During his time in the National Guard, he served in Kuwait, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, and other locations. He was part of Operation Enduring Freedom and the Global War on Terrorism. He received many commendations including the Bronze Star Medal. Robert's full-time employment was at Hill Air Force Base. He loved his military family.

Reading, fishing, hunting, traveling and learning about history were some of his favorite pastimes. He loved to work on cars and go down south off-roading. Time spent with family, especially his grandchildren, were his priorities. At family parties you would find him running the BBQ making sure everyone got fed before he would eat. Helping others was his passion-he was always willing to lend a hand. Robert was a big storyteller. He loved to share stories throughout his life. He will be remembered for his infectious enthusiasm and adventurous spirit. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved exploring new places, particularly those of historic significance such as battlefields and monuments. Robert will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. His legacy will live on in our hearts forever.

Surviving Robert are his wife, Paige; mother, Melissa Kay (Mark) Ostrander; in-laws Larry Norman and Andrea Gayle Bogue. Children: Layne Harrison (Faith) Blake, Liam Joseph Blake, Mark Daniel Blake, Jarred David (Kayla) Poulsen, Kasey Wayne (Candice) Poulsen, and Rocky Lynn (Zac) Griffith. We met Robert & Paige for a brief time as a volunteer at the Wrecker Games in UT and it was an instant connection. He was a great leader and was the great guy who wanted to make sure all was taken care of. It is amazing how he touched our hearts so quickly! My husband and I send our love to Paige and the family! We are glad to have met him! He will not be forgotten! <3

To Paige and all of Robert's family, Bob was a good friend growing up and was the best man in my wedding many years ago. I have so many great memories with Bob and they all came flooding back when I learned of his passing. Even though we did not stay in close touch over the years, I always knew that I could count on him if needed. I wish I could have met more of his family but knowing Bob, I am sure that they are all just as awesome as he is. He will be sorely missed but never be forgotten. With all our love, Rick, Bridget, Kevin, and Julia Chalmers.

We want to send our condolences to Paige and family. We met Robert and Paige at Matt´s. Robert and my husband, Max hit it off and I thoroughly enjoyed visiting with Paige. Robert sent Max an email inviting him to the Off Road Wrecker games. We were just shocked to hear about him. You two will be such a great memory for us down in Hurricane for our anniversary. All our love, Max and Jan Shaffer Inkom, Idaho
