In reflecting back on memories of Aunt Ruth I can remember running around the yard playing with my brothers and being told by mom that Aunt Ruth, Aunt Edith, and Uncle John were coming to visit. Mom then instructed us that we were to be on our best behavior. We were entitled to a short greeting with the relatives, but then we had to go outside and find something to do and not bother them. It was so exciting for me to have relatives come to visit us in Eureka. The short time we were permitted to be in the room with the adults it was exciting to see all the miniture doll clothes that Aunt Ruth had made. It was amazing that someone could make something that small. She was always generous in sharing the clothes with the girls. To me it felt like they were the elite coming to visit the peasants. I can still see Uncle John sitting on the coach with 2 walnuts in his hand and cracking them in his bare hand. I thought he was the strongest man I had ever seen. Being around the 4 of them you could see all the love that they shared and respect and admiration that they had for each other.

I am glad that I had the opportunity to take my children and wife down to Salt Lake to visit with her on several occasions.

Due to the fact that I am living in Japan I will be unable to attend Aunt Ruth's funeral, but she will be in my thoughts and prayers.

With Love,
Max, Sue, Megan, and Ryan
