Scott Atkinson Obituary

Oct. 21, 1962 ~ Aug. 16, 2014
The world lost a wonderful man on Saturday, August 16th. "Scooter" passed away unexpectedly from what is believed to be a heart attack.
Scott grew up just outside of Chicago and moved to Salt Lake City in 1982 to attend the University of Utah, where he received a Bachelors degree in economics. After graduating, he left Utah for a few years, eventually returning and settling down in Park City in 1993.
Scott loved to have fun! From his mischievous days in the SAE fraternity to his passion for hockey, he would leave everyone laughing and smiling. However, Scott's greatest form of enjoyment was watching his son Kolton play hockey and lacrosse. Scott was ever present, coaching Kolton or pacing the sidelines at the games.
Scott is survived by his mother Myrna, sister Stephanie, his son Kolton, and Kolton's mother, Judy Winterhalter.
There will be a Celebration of the Life of Scott Atkinson on Monday, August 25th, at the Park City Rotary Park from 6-8 pm. 4160 South 2000 East.
In lieu of flowers, we greatly appreciate donations to Kolton's college fund.

Scott was always easy to talk with and spoke with care about others and respect for his son Kolton. His love of the sports of Hockey and Lacrosse were shared with me many times and you could tell by his smile how passionate he was about them. He will be missed by many but his memories will live on with all of those he touched.

Judy and Kolton, I was very saddened to hear about the passing of Scott. So many memories of hockey tournaments and just visiting with all of you, enhanced my hockey experience even more. I am so sorry for your loss and my thoughts and prayers are with you always, he will be missed. Hugs and loves to both of you, Grandma Colleen (Andrew Pyper's grandma)

Scott was the type of guy who brightened every occasion, someone who could carry on a serious conversation one minute, and have you laughing the next minute. Scott- You left a positive impact on our lives, thanks Brother.

Some of my fondest memories from college involve Scotty. I regret that I lost touch after moving from PC. In the years after college, Scotty was always a bright light of joy when we ran into each other. Someone wrote that Scotty made you feel very important. I agree. He will be missed. My regrets go to Kolton and Judy.

I am so very sad to learn of Scott's untimely passing. I'm grateful for the photos that I have which serve to remind me of the joyful times we had during college at U of U, so many of which include Scott. Not surprisingly, every photo of Scott shows him smiling, laughing, and having a ball! My heart goes out to Kolton, Judy, Myrna, and Stephanie during this difficult time. Scott was such a remarkable guy. The complications of life sometimes prevent us from staying connected with one another, but in our hearts we remember and Scott made such an impression that wonderful memories of him will remain strong.

The world lost one of its finest. We were heartbroken to hear the news, it had been far too many years since we last saw Scotty, and still grappling with the fact we won't see him again. But his memory will always be with us. Kolton, your father was the epitome of the True Gentleman, a man that helped me become a man. Judy and Kolton our hearts and thoughts are with you.

Scott will be missed by all who knew him. Although I didn't know him that long or well, his love and joy for his son, Kolton, was so evident and special to see. He was always so proud of his son's accomplishments. Scott always had a smile for everyone and was a very hard worker. He will be missed dearly at the Washington School House. Sending light and love to his family.
