Sieglinde Wrathall Obituary

Sieglinde Luise Bachmann Wrathall
May 6, 1937 ~ Oct 30, 2019
Sieglinde Luise Bachmann Wrathall, our beautiful mother and grandmother was born on May 6, 1937, in Germany to Georg and Frieda Grab Bachmann and passed away in Salt Lake City, Utah, on October 30, 2019. In her youth she was an outstanding student who thrived in school and excelled in math. At the age of 21 she met her future husband, Robert, who was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany. They had one daughter, Susan. In 1967 the family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, which has been her home ever since. Linde was a vital part of her Sugarhouse neighborhood for 52 years. She remained independent right up to the end and enjoyed working in her yard and tending to her beautiful flowers. Neighbors looked forward to receiving her legendary Spritz cookies every Christmas and zucchini and pumpkin bread throughout the year. Linde treasured her lifelong friendships including many from elementary school. The last few years her friends at The Millcreek Senior Center were especially important to her. In addition to being a wonderful and loyal friend, Linde was an amazing mother and grandmother who doted on her family making every event special. We will miss her terribly. For the past 27 years Linde battled Leiomyosarcoma. She endured several surgeries, chemo treatments, and other therapies. She fought with great courage and determination and her doctors at the Huntsman Center marveled at her strength to keep fighting year after year. Linde will be greatly missed by her heartbroken family and friends. She is survived by her daughter Susan, and granddaughters Sophia and Simone, sister Renate, and nephew and nieces Mario, Jennifer, Leona, and Michele. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and older sister, Waltraud.
Per her wishes she has donated her body to the University of Utah School of Medicine for the purposes of research. Although she requested no services, you can honor Linde by planting some flowers or donating to https://nlmsf.org/donate-leiomyosarcoma-research/

My deepest sympathy to Susan and family. I will s miss Linde as a friend and neighbor of many years and a friend to my mother Jette, her love for life, family and friends was immense. Linde loved to share crepes at the Original Pancake House, drive to Ruth's diner or a walk around Nordic Lake. My friend you fought a brave fight....I will always cherish our time together.

Susan and family,

I am so sad to hear of Linde's passing. I just drove by her house a couple of weeks ago and saw that all looked well. My daughter was with me and we didn't stop. I should have.

Linde was a wonderful friend to my danish grandmother, Jette Ivarrson and my mother, Inge Hoj. I treasure the times I got to go to lunch with them. Linde and I had some nice visits together. She was an amazing woman and very good at all she did. I was amazed at how she persevered through all her medical challenges. She was an eternal optimist and we were so lucky to get to know her and enjoy her love and friendship.

Love,
Suzanne Hoj Wills and family

Linde was such a great neighbor to me for 13 years. I missed our times spent over tea and some of her wonderful cookies and bread when I moved. She was always so grateful to those that got out and shoveled the snow or raked her leaves before she got to it. She fought the battle and never gave up! She will be missed

Linde was such a good person and such an example of strength. She volunteered in my classroom and was loved by 2nd graders and by me. She never missed a day! She was so brave through all of the surgeries and treatments. Her optimism gave courage to others. I will miss her goodness and her smile.

Linde was such an amazing person. Art always told her she was his hero. We miss our time together at the senior center. She was always so positive and made other people feel better. As much as we miss her, we have such fond memories of our time together.
We hope she is surrounded by lots of flowers and that she is beating everyone in Mexican Train. She was one terrific player. Art and Jo Elizondo

Will and I send our deepest sympathy and well wishes to Linde's family. Linde will always have a special place in my heart. I remember feeling her warmth and kindness the very first time we met at the senior center. In the years that followed, I enjoyed hearing Linde speak so lovingly of her family. She was very generous to the people she met , whether it was a special t-shirt to one of the kitchen staff, or special home baked goodies for her friends. She had such a special gift for bringing people together and bringing out the best in people.
