When we lived in Tennessee and Brother Featherstone was stationed at Ft. Campbell, he sometimes taught our Sunday School class. Brother Featherstone told us stories about how, when he was a helicopter commander in Vietnam, he always prayed for his men. He told us of his many answered prayers and gave personal accounts of how his faith sustained him. Even after I was grown up and Kevin and I were friends as young men, Brother Featherstone still gave me fatherly advice and encouraged me, along with his own sons. I loved Brother Featherstone like a second father. I know I will see him again one day and I will thank him for all he meant to me as a youth.

I loved and trusted Brother Featherstone like he was my own dad. As a young man hanging around with Kevin and Darin, Brother Featherstone was always kind to me and trusted me. He even trusted me to drive his new VW Bug one time so Kevin and I could go to a stake dance. I felt ten feet tall being trusted that way. I loved hearing Brother Featherstone teach the gospel. I loved the example he set. What a great, generous, godly man.

I absolutely loved Brother Featherstone. He taught us boys in Aaronic Priesthood many years ago. We knew he'd been in Vietnam and we would frequently try to get him to tell war stories. He was never one to brag but the things he told us were amazing and they were always spiritual. After we were grown Brother Featherstone still set an example for us. In my eyes, he'll always be ten feet tall.

Dear Elder Vaughn J. Featherstone,
I offer my condolences at the loss of your brother. It is never easy to part from a loved one. You are one of my heroes. I had some great times under your direction. You even got me hooked on Louis L'Amour years ago and I have enjoyed them.
Sincerely,
Richard Brough

I send my sincere regards to the Featherstone family. I got acquainted with Stephen when served the Home Builders association and had addition opportunities when I worked at Economy Builders Supply. He was very kind and gracious to me. May the Lord bless you all with peace and comfort at this time. Steve Jensen
